THE FINDER from Fox – First Look

May 16, 2011 by

Fox’s THE FINDER is in a bit of a different situation than any of their other pilots this year. Not only is the new midseason series a quasi-spinoff of BONES, but these characters were already introduced to viewers in an episode of BONES that aired last month.

So while most of this probably isn’t entirely new information, take a look at a few pictures from the pilot, what the network says the series is about, and a trailer!

“Iraq war veteran WALTER SHERMAN (Geoff Stults, “She’s Out of My League”) gained a reputation while serving in the Army Military Police as someone who was very good at tracking down insurgents, deserters and improvised explosive devices (IEDs). Unfortunately, Walter found one IED just moments before it found him. Two months later, when Walter woke from his coma, he earned an honorable discharge and returned home. His resulting brain damage from the explosion transformed him from someone skilled at recovering people and things into something much more extraordinary: a Finder.

From the creator of the hit series BONES comes THE FINDER, the new one-hour procedural centering on a remarkable man who uses his unique gift to help others recover what they’ve lost. Walter may have left the military, but his reputation as a discreet professional who can unearth anything and anyone has been passed on to generals, politicians and other powerful figures. His first post-military assignment was to find the CIA head honcho’s missing daughter and bring her home. Walter did both, and since then has never been without an assignment.

After settling in Key West, Walter met the beautiful and worldly IKE LATULIPPE (Saffron Burrows, “Law & Order: Criminal Intent”), a woman with a mysterious past and many hidden skills. She tends bar at The Ends of the Earth, which also serves as a makeshift office and home base for Walter. Walter helped Ike escape a dangerous life, and for that, she is eternally grateful. Another island denizen dedicated to Walter is LEO KNOX (Michael Clarke Duncan, “The Green Mile”), once an obese lawyer who, after the deaths of his wife and children, completely reinvented himself into a gentle giant, philosopher and Walter’s legal advisor. Because of his skills, Walter is often asked to find a person or a thing that law enforcement either will not or cannot find. With the help of Ike and Leo, as well as a patchwork of indebted connections, he and his team ultimately find meaning in their own lives by finding something or someone other people have lost.”

How many episodes was it picked up for?

  2. Sarah on May 16th, 2011 11:38 am

Waste of time… saw the pilot and will not bother to watch another.
This is just plain crappy boring show with lousy actors and bad writing.

Good question CJ, I was wondering about that too.
I’m a little surprised that it got picked up at all, maybe it only got a pick up because of Emily’s pregnancy, but I guess I’ll give it a try.
I didn’t think it was all that good, but if we get to see Walter/Geoff Stults investigate in his boxers every episode it would be worth watching, right?
Maybe they can think of adding subtitles whenever Saffron Burrows talks in that ridiculously not British sounding British accent though, cause I only got about 75% of what she said.

This show will not last beyond 6 episodes. I saw the The Finder and found that
it was poorly written and just plain BORING.
Find it hard to believe it was picked up by FOX.
The rating for it were rather flat and from what I read on various blogs.
Most posters where not impressed with the show.

  5. Linda on May 16th, 2011 11:45 am

    13 episodes so far..

  6. Linda on May 16th, 2011 12:11 pm

I wonder how they are going to fit 13 episodes of The Finder and 22 episodes of Bones in one season? Maybe less hiatus breaks?

3 episodes is too much for the finder.don’t have any intentions of watching. this is REILEY way of patting nathan on the back for all the insult to fans with the hannah burley story arc.

I still have hope that it will turn out to be better than the premiere was, so I’ll watch the first few episodes and then we’ll see.
@Linda: I think that’s the only way that could work and I’m more than okay with it. I hated that we had so many breaks in every season of Bones.

It’s also good to know that Bones won’t be moved to another night again. All the moving around wasn’t good for ratings, especially when they did it in the middle of the season.

I agree with the other posters. The Finder was boring for me. I thought the name was
The Locator and the episode was called The Finder. But since I have no intention
of watching The Locator/Finder it does not matter.

If this what the Winter lineup will look like…. I believe FOX has another loser show which
will not last for an entire season.

I will be switching to another network when The Finder takes over for Bones.

  11. ToZiKa on May 16th, 2011 3:31 pm

I think we should concentrate on the positive side of things. At least they found something to deal with the maternity leave that didn’t make them order a half season of Bones only or something like that.
THAT would have sucked. If The Finder sucks we can just not watch and they’ll cancel it….no big deal.
And FOX will be happy….they like to cancel things

  12. Linda on May 16th, 2011 7:50 pm

If it means every episode will have Brennan in it, then I will be happy. It’s not Bones without Bones! And I will give The Finder a chance. But I think without the Bones connection, I will grow tired of the show. Also, I’m hoping Ike tunes down the accent, as I couldn’t understand half of what she was saying in the pilot!

Give it a chance before you say bad things about a new show. And people wonder why new shows don’t last cause they make up their minds before it even airs.

  14. Sarah on May 17th, 2011 10:46 pm

No interest in watching The Finder for another hour. I saw the spin off last month and
    was NOT impressed.
It was just plain BAD to watch. How can FOX pick up such a piece of garbage.
At least there are numerous cable channels I can turn to when this waste of a show
    be on during winter break.

Also, I thought the name of the show was The Locator and the episode was called
    The Finder
