FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS Series Finale Preview: ‘Always’

July 15, 2011 by

Well, folks, this is it.

If you’ve been lucky enough to follow the journey of FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS for the past five years, there is just one final hour to go, and it airs this evening at 8 p.m. on NBC.

I won’t say much about what goes down because I know that there are so many people who haven’t yet seen the series and I don’t want to spoil one single second of this spectacular piece of television… which I strongly urge them to Netflix as soon as possible. Start from season 1, sit back and enjoy.

But for those who are eagerly anticipating FNL’s swan song this evening, a quick preview and a Tim & Tyra clip from tonight too…

Clear eyes, full hearts…

The series finale of FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS airs Friday at 8 p.m. on NBC.

I am absolutely going to have to watch this show. One question: Would it do me any good to start with the movie, or would that just waste two hours that I could spend on the show? I know the two are based on the same book but are independent of each other … I think.

    I. Cannot. Wait.

I saw the finale last week….90 minutes! I LOVE the show and am so sad to see it ending….but glad that they were able to give it a proper ending. And am glad to see it earn a bunch of emmy nominations this year! I’m SO going to miss Coach Taylor. He is an awesome man!! 🙂

Jonathan: Though the film version of FNL incorporated characters & themes revisited in the TV version, you MUST experience Dillon through the prism of Kyle Chandler & Connie Britton as Eric & Tami Taylor. Buy the Season 1 DVD set, and prepare to set aside any other time-consuming hobbies or interests you may have until the final whistle. It is a masterpiece of televised storytelling, and the proper introduction to the magical landscape of Dillon, Texas.

Catalina: Be sure to have Kleenex by your side, as the finale produces copious amounts of tears, both happy and sad. It is truly one for the ages.

Jackie: Loved your feedback to the finale, and the grace you displayed by not discussing any spoilers. GMMR readers are the best at allowing their neighbors (both physical and virtual) to enjoy the best of TV without giving things away. I’m furiously typing away at a “farewell” piece to post after tonight’s episode airs, and would love to read your feedback about the specific events of the show.

Thanks, Erik. I’ll shelve the movie until I make it to the end of the series!
