About Last Night…GOSSIP GIRL, HART OF DIXIE and CASTLE

October 25, 2011 by

With the World Series going on right now, TV seems to be a bit calmer, doesn’t it? But don’t worry TV fans — sweeps month (and the return of many of your favorite shows) is just around the corner.

But for now, let’s talk about what did air on Monday…

HART OF DIXIE continues to be adorable, but it drives me batty when episodes are aired out of order. I get that sometimes there are extenuating circumstances, but in this case, there seems to be no apparent reason for why the hours were swapped. The Lemon/Levon storyline has an entirely different impact after last week’s confrontation, and so the ignoring of what should have been a big issue seemed a little out of whack. (Not to mention being introduced to a character we already had on our screens.) That being said, I’m glad we got to meet Wade’s dad. It gives him a layer I felt he needed to be a bit more sympathetic. I hope we get more background on George soon, too, whether it’s more details of his time in New York or something. Right now, he just seems like a bad boyfriend with an awkward family.

Seriously, how did GOSSIP GIRL not create a real-life book to go along with this Dan-wrote-a-popular-book-which-may-get-turned-into-a-movie plot? The more episodes the show devotes to Dan’s book (and it appears it’ll be around for a bit), the more frustrated I get over the fact that I can’t read it for myself. And if Chuck starts sleeping with his therapist, we may have an epidemic on our hands. IT’S CREEPY, PEOPLE.

Speaking of books based on TV shows, I wasn’t able to watch CASTLE last night, but I was able to stop by Golden Apple Comics to witness a little bit of the madness that ensued when series star Nathan Fillion came by to sign copies of “Heat Wave,” “Deadly Storm” and more show-related items. Some super devoted fans camped out more than 5 hours to meet Fillion and the line was insanely long, despite only a few days notice about the event. Bravo to CASTLE, ABC, Fillion and executive producer Laurie Zaks (who also stopped by the event) for realizing the fanbase for the show and rewarding them with fun events like this.

As for CASTLE itself? Sadly, between the CASTLE signing and the ALLEN GREGORY premiere party, I missed that and HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER. But if you guys watched them (or something else), I want to hear what you thought!

Go watch Castle. So much fun!

When Castle drops terms like “Apparition American” on us, I’m reminded why I love this show.

Castle was amazing. Loved Hart of Dixie. Hawaii 5-0 was good (McGarrett shirtless is always fun)! 2 Broke Girls was pretty good. Overall good night for TV (and the Rangers won!)

I know that Marisa will definitely get caught up on Castle! 😉

I was a bit disappointed in the much talked about double date between Ryan&Jenny and Esplanie…it was way too short (possibly edited for time?!) and a bit disappointing! Just me?

(I too need to catch up with Monday t.v. and download “Hart of Dixie” and watch “HIMYM”!)

No, it was not just you, Kath. It did seem too short (like they didn’t have enough time). And we didn’t get to see the post-dinner aftermath between Lanie and Esposito. All we get is Esposito saying we’re taking a break. Sort of a ho-hum (read: boring) way to deal with it. Maybe we’ll see some great tension between those two in future episodes. Sniping at each other at crime scenes or something. That would be entertaining.

Thanks Jennifer. I hope that there’s more too as it seemed so incomplete.

I’ve caught up on my other two (American) Monday night shows and I have to say that the Hart Of Dixie sequence swap (which Josh Schwartz tweeted was decided by TBTB) was jarring but I LOVE Wade even more now.

And on HIMYM, Robin showed a little more neck and chest and I apparantly continue to obsess over her wardrobe!
