About Last Night…THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, THE SECRET CIRCLE, THE OFFICE and More

October 28, 2011 by

Remember how I said yesterday I only planned to sporadically tune in to the World Series game 6 “if I heard something good was going on via Twitter”? (Sorry Rangers and Cardinals fans. I love me some baseball — especially my beloved Dodgers — but there is an insane amount of TV on this week.) So while I stayed true to my word for most of the game, from the ninth inning on, things got insane.

Long story short, Cardinals came from behind to win, and there is no FRINGE today.

But there was other TV on Thursday besides the baseball game, so let’s get talking about that!

Given that THE VAMPIRE DIARIES has always been trigger-happy (in a good way), it was nice to see so many dead characters pop back up in their Halloween episode. While I’d imagine the temptation was there for the writers to bring back even more people than we witnessed tonight, Lexi, Mason, Shelia Bennett, and Anna (who has been hanging around for a few episodes, thanks to Jeremy’s brush with death at the end of last year) all plausibly fit into the current storylines. And it may be inevitable that Stefan will regain his humanity, but I’m digging the current version. (The montage where the ghosts disappeared was gorgeous and I may have rewound that. But I’ll deny it later.)

THE SECRET CIRCLE was deliciously Halloween-y, and I’m really interested to see how far they’re going to push this Jake storyline. I like that Cassie isn’t completely buying into what he’s selling her, but the fact is he was (and potentially still will be) actively trying to kill the members of the circle. When that’s revealed, I can’t imagine them willingly inviting him to join them for magical fun anytime soon.

While I wasn’t surprised by what seems to be the end of Leonard and Priya’s relationship on THE BIG BANG THEORY, it was a little fantastic that the show didn’t really let us dwell on the implications of it and instead had Sheldon immediately pop out from under the couch cushions. Between that and Sheldon passing out from fright in the beginning of the episode, I laughed entirely too hard at the episode.

There were some fun costumes on THE OFFICE, but the episode didn’t completely click for me. Part of that might have been because the World Series game was wrapping up, part of it might have been the fact that I can’t totally get into the season so far, but it’s an episode I feel I’m likely going to need to rewatch at some point.

TSC is such a great show. Keeps you wanting more. Loved last nights episode. I wonder what is on the scrolls she found…and to see what happens to her grandma. Wonder what they’re going to do in the future about Cassie’s dark magic? Can’t wait for the next episode!

Vampire Diaries was once again a great episode! It was so great seeing all the old faces. Wish we could have seen Aunt Jenna pop up though! I loved Lexi with Stephan. I hated how mean Stephan was being to Elena. I know he’s Ripper Stephan now but just heart breaking watching. Poor Elena. Truly, truly excited to see what the caves offer about the Originals. Can’t wait till we get to meet the rest of them and hoping Elijah comes back soon!!

So glad that you felt the same way about The Office (season and episode) that I did…and I don’t think it was the excitement of the World Series that effected your viewing as I watched the show before the last innings of the game and I still didn’t really like it. Of course, I really, really, really don’t like “Robert California” (I liked Zoey on HIMYM last year more than I like him, so you know that’s saying something!) so that probably explains my feelings about the show right now.

Loved Damon & Mason & Alaric in tonights episode of TVD! & Caroline kicking ass – always a plus. I think I got something in my eye when we saw Pearl & Anna hug. It was an episode so packed with some awesome call backs, Grams! Lexi! even the tomb vampires. it was not the best episode to hook some newbies (too much back story that had to wait till commercials) but perhaps my enthusiasm was catching? We shall see.

The Vampire Diaries had me hooked from the beginning of last night’s “Ghost World’. The writers did a great job in an excellent opening to the show! I thoroughly enjoyed the parallel of Damon being strapped to the chair and torched by Mason, like last season when Damon did the same thing to Mason. (That was such a perfect scene last season too!) At this point, I’m totally missing my Dalaric Bromance! I just want Damon and Alaric to be friends again! I miss them so much! The scene when all the ghosts first appeared had me a little misty eyed. I love Jasmine Guy so much and her as Grams is always perfection. Anna and Jeremy are just too perfect for words. Elena is such a hypocrite for telling Jeremy his relationship with her would never work. Hello Girl, you are still obsessed with the Rippah Stefan, who could care less about their ‘love’! So, Elena totally lost points last night for that one! She had such a bad ass role last week too. I like how Caroline stuck by Bonnie’s side through all the crazy necklace search and was trying to protect her heart about the ‘Janna’ kiss. Did you see her ass-kicking of the tomb vamps? Awesome! Go Caroline! Lexi and Elena going all intervention/detox on Rippah Stefan was interesting. Honestly, I was just happy ti have Lexi back. Also, Damon and Mason going all Tomb Raider was fun to watch until Damon got repeatedly staked. As you mentioned, the scene when the ghosts disappeared was the best and most tear-worty moment of the episode. Chris Mollere did such an amazing job picking the music for that scene! EPIC move! As my tears are flowing, we get a Dalaric scene! Alaric came when Damon called him!! I knew this romance…er…bromance wasn’t dead! Then Damon says the line that makes my heart melt, “Other than Elena, you’re pretty much the only one that I trust.” AWW and my Dalaric heart is filled with joy! Damon gives Alaric that sexy, smoldering smile and look! Hot! I need Elena to just be a stronger female lead. Oh wait, she told him off and locked him in! Way to go, Girl! Also, go Bonnie for kicking Jeremy out! She needs a new boyfriend. That relationship is just too forced to me. This freakin’ necklace just won’t go away. I wondered what that will lead to. So, then Dalaric (yes, I will continue to call them back!!) find the freaky hieroglyphics that will lead into next week’s Original Vampire Flashback goodness! I can’t wait!

ARGH! I just realized I spelled Stefan’s name wrong on my comment. I really am a huge fan but I make an oops moment. 🙂

I really loved Anna’s part in Vampire Diaries last night. I think this episode was a fun way to bring back a bunch of fan favorites. I’m always happy to see more Uncle Mason on my TV.

  8. Jenn on October 28th, 2011 3:59 pm

That was an amazing episode of The Vampire Diaries. I love how Lexi’s unfinished business was helping Stefan. I hope Elena sticks with it. My favorite line was the, “You said that the necklace represented hope,” line. I wish Anna could have been back to stay though. I really loved her with Jeremy and I feel like that relationship didn’t really delve as deeply as it should have. I feel that way about all the relationships except Stelena. None of the others really go in depth. I’m glad Beremy’s over though. I was never a fan of that. I wish Jenna had come back to see Alaric though.

All I can say is: LEXI!!! Seeing Lexi return to help Elena with Stefan made my night… and I have to admit that I enjoyed seeing him suffer just a little bit. He’s been quite an ass lately. I have to agree with the comments above, I was completely in love with the rekindling of the Damon/Alaric bromance, and glad to see Anna and Jeremy together again, even though it made me feel a little bad for Bonnie, because I do like Bonnie. Also glad that Anna found Pearl at the end… made me feel like she was going to be okay, and not alone. The only thing that could have made last night’s episode better would have been JENNA! One last thing… I’m dying to know what happened to Katherine… I’m pretty sure she isn’t dead, but when will we see her again?

oh my goodness last nights episode of VD was sooooo emotional from jeremy kissing anna to elena telling stefan he’d better try to fight or shes moving on….
the only thing missing was katherine wonder what she’s up to ?? lol probably no good

Although Ghost World didn’t have quite as much action as there was in previous episodes like the Reckoning, it was perfect its own subtle way. The amount of powerful emotional scenes overwhelmed me, from Anna’s loneliness to Lexi’s determination to Damon and Alaric’s repairing of their friendship. My favorite part, though, had to be where Elena told Stefan to “Feel something, feel anything. Because if you don’t you’re going to lose me forever. I won’t love a ghost for the rest of my life.” To me, that scene really emphasized how much stronger Elena has become over the course of the episodes. And that cliffhanger… oh, brutal. That was just cruel, to leave his hanging like that and craving the next episode more than ever.

i loved the vampire diaries episode! it was so amazing. it was so great to see lexi back in the episode & i love how she made stefan think that he hadn’t had blood in awhile. Also like how she staked him to try and make me feel anything. I love the friendship she has with Stefan & that she was trying to de-rippify him. Also love how at the end of the episode Elena told Stefan that he had to feel something b/c she won’t love a ghost. Some of my favorite moments of the episode though, were the Anna & Jeremy scenes. I especially love the part where they kissed! So cute! Adorable that Jeremy told Elena that he loved Annna. I felt so bad for her this episode though, she didn’t want to be alone. That scene at the end where she was reunited with her mom was so sad. Mason is awesome, loved seeing him back & his scenes with Damon were awesome. OMG the cliffhanger at the end was great, wonder what those drawings mean.

Okay I am loving “Bad Stefan”. He is so HOT and entertaining! It was awesome to have Lexi back this episode too. Arielle Kebbel is so great and Nina continues to blow my mind. I am so interested about the markings on the wall that Damon & Mason found. So sad when Mason left 🙁 along with all of the other “good ghosts”. Anna and her mother mad me sad. I do wish Jenna had been able to come back though. All in all this episode was perfect for Halloweekend!
Speaking of Halloween…The Secret Circle is getting so good. I especially loved all of the costumes everyone was wearing. Discovering Cassie possesses dark magic was so neat. I can’t wait to see what else she can do. Jake is freaking me out though…he has lots of issues, but he is quite attractive ;). The CW is so amazing…totally worth the extra $2.50/month since I can’t get it locally! Such incredible television.

I love The Secret Circle but I didn’t love the last episode. It fell flat to me and there was just too much Cassie. Wish Diana, Melissa and Faye had some more screen time. Still I have hope for next week. Can’t wait to see where they are going with Cassie and Jake! I really enjoy his character and the actor is very easy on the eyes.

Wow the Vampire Diaries was great! I’m loving season 3 so far. It was so good to see Anna and Mason( who I think they really could have done something with his character instead of killing him off) and Lexi. I’m on the fence with The Secret Circle, just not sure if I can get into theses characters; Faye and Diana I like but Cassie and Jake not so much.

Vampire Diaries just keeps getting more intense.. I love how Mason even worked with Damon because it would be the best for Tyler!
