CASTLE Creator Andrew Marlowe on the Show’s People’s Choice Award Nominations

November 9, 2011 by

While the Emmys may snub some of our favorite shows, at least we have the People’s Choice Awards to give them some love. And the fact that the fans are the ones who are responsible for the nominations? That’s the icing on the cake.

“[The nominations] mean a lot because it comes from the fans,” CASTLE creator Andrew Marlowe told me about his show’s first People’s Choice Award nominations.

And for the fans who campaigned and rallied others to push CASTLE past the first stage of pre-nominations, Marlowe is aware — and thankful — that your tireless voting scored them nods for Favorite TV Drama Actor and Favorite TV Crime Drama.

“We appreciate all of their efforts, and I know that they were very active and vocal on Twitter,” he said. “It makes me happy that they love the show that much.”

Of course, CASTLE wasn’t the only show who was nominated. Be sure to head over to the People’s Choice Awards site to vote for your favorite actors, actresses and shows, because many GMMR faves were honored!

(And yes, I talked with Marlowe about many CASTLE-related things, so make sure to check back before “Kill Shot” — which airs November 21st on ABC — for more scoop!)

I’m very happy that Castle and Nathan Fillion got their well-deserved nomination. However, I’m also just as disappointed that Stana Katic not only did not make the list of nominees, but the fans’ effort of writing her in did not pay off. Hopefully, she can get some well-deserved recognition in other awards (Golden Globes, Emmy’s…) this year.

Oh, and I’m looking forward to more scoop from your chat with Mr. Marlowe. Thanks, Marisa!

Castle fandom is not united. If it was, Stana Katic would get a PCA nomination. It’s really sad that the same people who voted for Castle and Nathan, didn’t do the same for Stana.

I disagree with Katarzyna. It was a fair competition and blaming Castle fandom is just wrong. Don’t forget that other shows and actors have their fans as well. The best we can do now is to vote for Nathan and the show. Lets help all the cast and crew of Castle to get recognition for their commitment and hard work!

To me it is UNBELIEVABLE that Stana Katic did not get the nod for a people’s award. She is a star in every sense of the meaning of the word – a top class actress. Don’t know what you all look for in America when nominating, but I am sure Stana would be top of the nomination list in any UK vote on the show. Here in UK, all my friends who love the show absolutely love Stana. Chin up Stana if you are reading – you will be a massive star long after Castle is over!
