GLEE Recap: “Michael” – It’s McKinley v. Dalton in the Battle for MJ

January 31, 2012 by

Move over Sharks and Jets. Step aside Crips and Bloods. There is a new turf war and this time it’s McKinley v. Dalton – and these kids fight with some mean harmonies.

In the first tribute episode of the season, GLEE took on the music of Michael Jackson. I had hoped it would be a musical feast, and I wasn’t disappointed. You gotta love an episode that smacks you in the face with a super strong performance before the opening credits. Nine performances made it into the episode (“I Want You Back” by The Warblers was cut in editing, but it’s still available for purchase on iTunes) and and not a true grenade among them.

The Warbler/McKinley battle was the backdrop for most of the episode, but “Michael” also included one of the show’s biggest moments – Rachel Berry agreeing to marry Finn Hudson. Throw in some college acceptances and the “aine” of Klaine being injured and I guess you’ve got yourself an episode.

Here’s a bit of what went down tonight and my take on the show’s epic musical moments. Be sure to share your favorite moments from tonight’s GLEE in the comments.

RINGER Creators Eric Charmelo and Nicole Snyder Tease the Show’s Return

Comments Off on RINGER Creators Eric Charmelo and Nicole Snyder Tease the Show’s Return

RINGER is back with a brand new episode tonight, and with Siobhan back in New York, things have taken a new turn.

“It just felt like the conceit of having Siobhan in Paris was perfect for the first chapter and we just wanted to amp things up,” co-creator Eric Charmelo told reporters last week. “And we’re having fun playing with the twinning of it all by having the two sisters in the same city simultaneously. And interacting and interweaving with at least one side unaware.”

“It also came off the idea if you want something done right, do it yourself,” co-creator Nicole Snyder added. “So Siobhan was plotting from afar and she couldn’t get what she wanted, so she had to come back and do it herself…she’ll be around for a little while.”

Comments Off on On the Set for RAISING HOPE’s ‘Gambling Again’

There’s a brand new episode of RAISING HOPE tonight, and according to the cast, it’s not an installment you’re going to want to miss.

Not only does the Chance family take up gambling (eek!), but Sabrina writes a play which features the adorable baby Hope dressed up as Hillary Clinton. (Yep, you read that right.)

What else can you expect?

I was on set for part of the filming of “Gambling Again,” so I talked with series creator Greg Garcia, and stars Lucas Neff (Jimmy), Shannon Woodward (Sabrina), Martha Plimpton (Virginia), Garret Dillahunt (Burt), and Kate Micucci (Shelley) about what fans can expect from the episode…

You know they say “life is what happens when you’re busy making other plans”? Well, this isn’t exactly as deep, but my plans for last night’s television viewing did get thrown for a major loop.

I planned on watching HOUSE and ALCATRAZ. I actually did watch about 20 minutes of each, but I found myself so annoyed with all of THE X FACTOR news that I became too frustrated to watch those shows. (Trust me, I think it was bizarre reason to turn off the TV, too.)

But I did watch the CW shows, so let’s talk about Monday TV!

GLEE is new tonight, and the big question is will Rachel say yes to Finn’s proposal? Or will she tell him to “Beat It”? You’ll have to watch tonight’s Michael Jackson-themed episode to find out!

Keep reading to see what else is new tonight (I’ll give you a hint: RINGER)!

A lively challenge that involves bouncing medicine balls on a trampoline to get them over a wall tests the speed and coordination of both the black and red teams as they vie for a valuable prize – the ability to choose which player’s weight won’t count at this week’s weigh-in. Then it’s a blast from the past when aqua team siblings Adrian and Daphne, who were eliminated before they even got to the ranch in episode one, come back to weigh-in and reveal whether they’ve lost enough weight to return to the competition. And a few personality clashes add tension in the house before the players decide which contestant will go home this week.

Glee | 8pm on Fox
“Michael”
In a special episode celebrating the music of Michael Jackson, the rivalry between New Directions and the Warblers intensifies en route to Regionals. Comments Off on THE X FACTOR’s Steve Jones Says He Won’t Be Back for Season 2

It appears Steve Jones’ time on THE X FACTOR is over.

Jones just tweeted, “I wont be hosting next seasons XFactor which is a shame but I cant complain as I’ve had a great time. Good luck to everyone on the show.” Fox has not yet replied to a request for comment on Jones’ statement. (UPDATE: Fox has confirmed that Jones will not be returning to the show.)

Personally, I’m a little disappointed Jones won’t be returning. But do you think this is the right move?
