About Last Night…GOSSIP GIRL, HOUSE, CASTLE and More

January 24, 2012 by

The GOP nomination debate might have derailed a bit of television last night, but that doesn’t mean there wasn’t plenty of Monday goodness to talk about…

Blair Waldorf proved she was a fun drunk on last night’s episode of GOSSIP GIRL. Yes, we got some answers on the car wreck (which was intended for Nate), but my focus is on next week’s 1ooth episode. We’re one week away from the wedding, and while I seriously doubt Blair and Louis will actually get married, I feel like it can’t be called off for something as simple as Chuck breaking them up (even though he’s now teamed up with the evil priest). Dan writing the vows for Louis was an interesting twist and could be enough to prompt Blair to second-guess her choice (again). Do you guys have any good theories?

So far I’m enjoying ALCATRAZ. And while this may seem minor (and silly) to many of you, I’m impressed with how they’re handling adding a civilian to the team. I loved that Rebecca noted that this stuff should be hard for Doc Soto, since until a week ago, this wasn’t his job. Television viewers are so used to seeing average, everyday people just jumping into investigating like it’s not a big deal, when the reality is, if most of us were suddenly put in front of dead bodies (or saw someone we know get shot), we’d freak out. The prisoner they were after this week was a crazy, evil SOB, so is it a bit bad I’m glad they killed him off?

HART OF DIXIE came back as adorable as ever. It was hilarious to see Zoe go to such extreme lengths to fit in, and especially amusing to see her have to sing after Rachel Bilson (Zoe) did her whole “Call Me Doctor” video. Meanwhile, I’m waiting for the whole Lavon/Lemon relationship secret to finally explode. It has to come soon, right?

CASTLE‘s “An Embarrassment of Bitches” could have easily been a forgettable throwaway episode since it’s sandwiched in between two “bigger” episodes (last week’s “Dial M for Mayor” and the upcoming “The Blue Butterfly”), but it was a fun hour. But would Gates really allow a dog in the precinct? Either way, Hilarie Burton was extremely impressive as the faux Kim Kardashian-like celebrity.

I also watched HOUSE, but I’m not quite sure what to say about that. I’d be shocked if anyone who is asexual isn’t insulted by the way the alleged asexuals were portrayed in this episode. Melanie Lynskey was good in her guest spot, the case was interesting, but House’s games just felt tired. It’s possible the removal of House’s ankle bracelet will jump-start the season, but we’ll see. (Very bizarre that Taub was randomly not in this episode because one of his kids was sick.)

What stood out to you on Monday?
