About Last Night…THE BIG BANG THEORY, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, THE OFFICE, and More

Thursday night TV, you are my Everest. One day I will conquer all of you in one night. Alas, it was not last night.

But I still did watch plenty of things, so let’s talk about what went down!

I wonder how many takes it took THE BIG BANG THEORY‘s Jim Parsons to nail that explanation of the “Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock” rules. Between that, Sheldon and Kripke trying to shoot basketballs, and that unfortunate painting Amy gave Penny of them, it was a very laugh-out-loud episode.

Ohh, PARKS & RECREATION brought the awkward. The Ben, Leslie, and Dave date was just so painfully awkward, but wickedly funny. I’ve liked both couples, but between Ben’s fear of cops and Dave’s insistence that he and Leslie were meant to be together, I’m a little surprised it wasn’t a teeny tiny bit more dramatic.

Hey, I laughed at THE OFFICE! This is progress, people! I miss how much Jim used to prank Dwight, so that elaborate hotel crime scene was just a great throwback to what the show used to be. I’m not a massive Catherine Tate fan (I have absolutely nothing against her, but I’m not super familiar with her work), and she ended up being my least favorite part of the episode. Can we keep Andy  as the receptionist? I liked him considerably more as that than as manager.

AMERICAN IDOL was considerably better than it has been most of this season, but it was absolutely brutal to save 64 contestants, only to eliminate 24 of those at the end of their Vegas trip. There were some absolutely mediocre singers saved, while some that should have made it far, didn’t. Oh well.

Um, Alaric is going to be okay on THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, right? Now, should we place bets on who will be the first non-Original to discover there is a new way to take down the siblings? (Totally nerdy, but I did love the use of The Civil Wars’ “Poison & Wine” in the beginning of the episode…it’s such a gorgeous song.)

I still have a ton of things to watch on my DVR (including THE SECRET CIRCLE, which I’ve half-finished), but what did you watch?

My hubby laughed so hard during the BBT basketball scene that I thought he was going to fall out of his chair. (I’m thinking it might have hit home a little bit – he’s an aerospace geek, so the show in general is very “real” to him.) Definitely at the top of the list for fav eps!

I have a lot on my DVR from last night too. I only managed to watch TVD and TSC. I love TVD and I thought last nights episode was good but I am getting a bit annoyed with the Damon/Elena/Stefan triangle. I honestly don’t care which one she is with but the back and forth stuff is getting old. I do like the natural tension between the three but I’m beginning to feel that the storyline has taken us in a circle and here we go back around again. Oh and poor Alaric! That guy cannot catch a break. I did love Caroline as the “blonde distraction” and I think Klaus’s new found fascination with her is becoming interesting (not that I don’t want Tyler back STAT)! TSC was really good last night and I think I’m officially liking this show now! Week by week it seems to be getting better. I really hope some of the new characters they have introduced give it room to grow even more.
