About Last Night...AMERICAN IDOL, SUBURGATORY, MODERN FAMILY, and More - Give Me My Remote : Give Me My Remote

Wednesday night TV…the calm before the Thursday storm. Let’s enjoy the relatively easy night while we can, right?

Let’s talk about what aired last night…

I was actually pretty impressed with the AMERICAN IDOL finalists (especially Phillip, Joshua, and Hollie), but I don’t understand why the powers that be make these theme weeks if they’re not going to actually follow it. My game was to look up the year everyone was born and figure out how many other songs they should have sung versus what they actually did.

SUBURGATORY was really funny, but I’m very curious to see how much the mother storyline plays into the final episodes of the season. Tessa may not be yearning a mother figure, but now that George has opened that box, that has to cause trouble. As for the episode itself…Dallas and her friends? Amazing. And man, do I hope Dalia gets her HANGOVER monkey.

I do love how MODERN FAMILY can seamlessly work big name guest stars into their show. Ellen Barkin fit in naturally as a real estate opponent of Phil’s, and I loved that Phil roped Luke into one-upping her. Poor Jay, he better get used to Manny’s friends being interested in coming over for Gloria — odds are that’ll be happening a lot in the future.

Alex’s ability to quote MIRACLE on HAPPY ENDINGS is amazing. I love that the writers brought back Dave’s ex from the pilot. Continuity shouldn’t get a figurative gold star, but I always appreciate when things that could easily be dismissed are brought back.

Wasn’t able to watch PSYCH last night (outside of the fabulous PSYCH-out), but that’s first on my list for today.
