SUPERNATURAL: Sera Gamble Teases ‘Party On, Garth’ and a Season Finale Cliffhanger

March 30, 2012 by

It’s no secret Dean has been drinking quite a bit this season on SUPERNATURAL, but in tonight’s episode, he at least has a good reason to indulge — he needs to be drunk to find the monster the Winchester brothers are hunting!

“Garth is returning in an episode that has a pretty epic couple of drinking scenes,” executive producer Sera Gamble teased. “Garth and the boys are working on a case that is around an alcohol monster — a monster that you have to be drunk to see. So there are a few scenes that are just so hilarious; where Sam and Dean, and also Garth, have to get pretty sauced to deal with the monster.”

Yes, Garth is always amusing, but Gamble promised tonight’s episode is extra special.

“DJ Qualls (Garth) is hilarious anyway,” she noted. “And that is meant to be a pretty funny, quirky character, but he is so good when he is drunk. We were falling on the floor in the editing room when we were working on the episode.”

Something a little less funny? The prospect of where this season’s finale could take viewers. I asked Gamble if she was hoping the Winchester brothers enter a potential season 8 with a clean slate, starting to rebuild their lives, etc. or if we should still expect them to be down and still at risk to lose everything, and she explained it wouldn’t quite be either option.

“The show SUPERNATURAL is about both,” Gamble said. “It’s about Sam and Dean doing these heroic things and often suffering a lot of loss in the process. And by this point in their lives, seven seasons in…they have really been impacted by what they’ve done. They can’t really stop because…there’s always another version of ‘we’ve got to save things.’ It hasn’t been an easy road for them, and I think we have a really good cliffhanger.”

Ah yes, those pesky little cliffhangers…

“It wouldn’t be SUPERNATURAL if we didn’t leave you what was happening over the hiatus,” Gamble laughed. “So we’re going to leave you on a cliffhanger.”

SUPERNATURAL airs Fridays at 9 PM on The CW.

Well, I sure hope SPN is better next season if we get renewed. I want the show to get back to Sam and Dean talking to each other and relating to each other like brothers. I don’t know what is going on with the writing this season, but it’s so off-character, flat, and weird, that it barely feels like the real SPN anymore. And Sam’s hell trauma better not be over already, after the utter failure in setting it up all season long.

I really hope we get a season 8 and that the cliffhanger doesn´t involve Cas I don´t want to spend another summer worried about him, I just want him to be ok for a little while

I am not too sure about a season 8? I am not too sure what this season has meant to be lol.I had hope for better with the sl for Sam and the Butch and Sundance feel hasnt really happened.
I thought this weeks episode in itself was good but as a follow up to last weeks it lacked continuity outside of a brief conversation in the car. This season hasnt been a favourite of mine but it has had some good moments and some scratch heading moments as well.
