About Last Night…THE BIG BANG THEORY, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, AWAKE and More

March 30, 2012 by

Oh, Thursday night TV — you bring so much joy, and yet so much frustration that I can never watch all of you in one sitting. Sigh. One day.

Let’s talk about what went down last night…

God, I love THE BIG BANG THEORY. On a lesser show, a talking Spock doll would have been utterly ridiculous, and yet here, it worked. Sheldon’s utter glee at eventually opening up his toy — only to break it — was just amazing. Um, and how adorable is Raj’s new puppy? Hope we get to see more of her.

I’m not a regular 30 ROCK watcher, but I tuned in last night. Nothing I saw would convert me to watching it regularly, but it amused me to see Liz’s frustration over the same things happening over and over again in her life. Ah, to be on television. Heck, it felt meta to me and I’ve only seen a handful of episodes…does anyone here watch regularly?

I’m disappointed Heejun Han was eliminated from AMERICAN IDOL. No, I didn’t think he’d be the winner, but I think he was better than the joke the show made him out to be.

Is it wrong to be utterly delighted that there’s now a legitimate, smart reason not to kill the Originals on THE VAMPIRE DIARIES? Up until last night, there really wasn’t one, but the notion that if an Original dies, everyone they sired will die, too, is just brilliant. I wouldn’t be surprised if another one or two is killed off before the season ends, but this is an awesome twist. (And all the vamps should be thanking Bonnie for unbinding the siblings — otherwise we’d have a lot of undead corpses to deal with.)

I wish more of you watched AWAKE. For me, it was the best pilot of the midseason (heck, the entire season, period), and even more impressing, the quality hasn’t nose-dived unlike other shows I had high hopes for. The introduction of a serial killer who now knows Britten’s secret — that he believes he’s currently living in two worlds, one of which is with his wife and the other of which is with his son — adds a whole new element of danger and intrigue and…ugh, I just wish you guys were watching. It hurts my heart to know this show is in very real danger.

THE SECRET CIRCLE and PERSON OF INTEREST are still waiting for me on my DVR. Actually really excited to watch both. (Yeah, yeah, judge me all you want.)

What did you watch last night?

Jason Isaacs alone should make people watch Awake…and he is only one of the amazing things about that show! SIGH!

I’m watching Awake! It was a great episode last night and Kath is right, Jason Isaacs is awesome and I’m very excited to see where they will take the show.

I’m glad you guys are watching. We can all love the show while the few Nielsen families do…whatever it is they’re doing.
