BONES: ‘The Don’t in the Do’ Video Preview Features Sweets Accidentally Propositioning Booth, and Brennan Having Post-Baby Body Issues

April 11, 2012 by

BONES’ Brennan might be one of the smartest women in the world, but that doesn’t mean she’s exempt from having difficulties adjusting to a post-baby body.

And Booth? Well, he’s doing the best he can to diffuse the situation. Unfortunately, his solution is to bring Cam into it (you can imagine how thrilled Brennan is with that) and then he loops Sweets into their problems — and Sweets accidentally, kind of/sort of, propositions Booth. (Oh yes, it’s awkward.)

Intrigued? Take a look at the clips below…

If Booth buys her that I dont think it will go down well…

I just happened to catch the episode where booth says to her “What if you and I were dating, and you came out dressed in something and I said you looked horrible?” And Brennan replies something like “I would evaluate and change or ignore you.” It’s still so weird to see Brennan being a regular woman…

On the one hand it definitely brings a new air to the show (which I do love), but a part of me still misses the old logical, rational, to-heck-with-the-world’s-opinions, Brennan.

    Am I alone in that?

@Shep: I don’t think you’re alone in that, but I felt like this instance was almost excusable given that she is post-baby and hormones can impact a woman no matter how brilliant and rational she is. Or maybe I’m just excusing it and trying to rationalize the behavior.

    @Shep @Marisa Roffman :
Why does Brennan acting like a regular woman seem strange? Yes, she’s tough and logical, but also, there was/is a lot of the things she said/did that were/are her way to protect herself. Also, until recently we mostly saw her in professional settings, not at home before/after work when she lets her guard down and can be herself. It seems very strange to me that some people still don’t understand that.

    Exactly what Sarah said!
Either Brennan’s too cold/logical and now people are complaining that she’s acting like a ‘woman or she’s become too soft’.
Urgh, ffs Brennan is a woman believe it or not, and she always HAS had feelings but ofcourse now, she’s more open with her emotions and I for one love that character progression. She had a baby and is finally with the man she loves. What did you expect? That she’d still be as closed off like she was in season 1??

Anyway, I REALLY REALLY loved these sneaks. God, that first one *fans self* BB have so much chemistry, that “I know your body” is as hot as an sex scene. The way Booth’s voice changes and then kisses her, it’s so natural and so well done 😀

I can’t/won’t speak for the first Sarah, but I actually wasn’t complaining about Brennan’s behavior. It’s normal for her to have these issues post-baby, but that doesn’t mean it’s still not bizarre to see her be more “normal.” Speaking for myself, I’m so used to her (rightful) self-confidence about her intelligence and looks that it will probably always throw me when she doesn’t have it.

@Marisa Roffman Sorry Marisa, I did not mean to sound harsh.
But throughout the seasons, we’ve seen glimpses of Brennan’s various sides, sometimes even more than glimpses, like when she opened up to Angela or Booth mostly, sometimes to other characters.
It’s always been there, just here we see her in her private life, not hiding what she feels and talking about it because she is with Booth now, and she does not have those huge walls around her to protect herself.
So that’s why it seems so strange to me that it is difficult/strange for some people to see Brennan reacting as a regular person.
As for being self confident about her intelligence and her looks, I would say that it was more about facts than anything else. She is a genius, it’s a fact, she is beautiful as she said it herself in Harbingers under the Fountain, but as a fact as well.
Under her tough outside, she had a lot of insecurities.
