PRIVATE PRACTICE: Rachel G. Fox Teases Her Guest Spot

April 24, 2012 by

PRIVATE PRACTICE may be on a new night (Tuesdays at 10 PM on ABC), but that doesn’t mean things are calming down in the slightest. In fact, in addition to the baby drama on tonight’s hour, “And Then There Was One,” a patient’s sister causes some concern for Violet.

To get a few teases about about the hour, I went to Rachel G. Fox, who plays the questionable sister in tonight’s episode…

“It’s so tricky to try and explain it, especially because I’m trying to not give away the story to the viewers,” she explained. “I really want people to just tune in and watch, but in a general sense, it was extremely complex and an extremely intense [role] to get into. There were several dimensions. And for me, it was just such a fun role to play because of the things she has to do.”

One of most memorable scenes Fox had to do? An intense conversation with PRIVATE PRACTICE’s resident shrink.

“I sit down and talk about everything with Amy Brenneman, who plays Violet,” Fox said. “Just because the twistedness of what my character is saying and…how far gone [she is]. It was just a very, very fun thing to do. And it was something different — something I hadn’t got to do in my acting life.”

And while Fox is a newer fan of the show — she shared that “before we filmed, I went back and watched some previous episodes to understand the flavor of the show and my mom and I, we fell in love with the show.” — she admitted she was a little bummed she didn’t get the opportunity to work more with a certain star of the series.

“I wanted to get to work a little more with Taye Diggs (Sam) because I think he’s just fantastic on the show,” she shared. “I did get to film one scene with him that there were a lot of people in and he was one of the doctors in the scene — that first one where we’re rushing into the hospital.”

The Diggs-related disappointment aside, Fox has plenty to look forward to. In addition to this guest spot, she’ll continue to recur on MELISSA AND JOEY and she told me she is “super excited” for the premiere of JEWTOPIA, her new movie which makes its debut this Thursday at Newport Beach Film Festival.

Fox’s episode of PRIVATE PRACTICE airs tonight at 10 PM on ABC. Make sure to check it out!
