NEW GIRL: Jake Johnson Talks Nick/Jess and Season 2

August 28, 2012 by

When NEW GIRL ended last season, Nick — fresh off of panicking about moving in with his girlfriend — returned to the apartment to live with Jess, Schmidt, and Winston. So yes, when we pick up in season 2, some things are similar…but that could change when Nick gets a (possible) glimpse of what’s to come when someone claiming to be a version of Nick from the future gives him some intel. Hmm…

I talked with Jake Johnson (Nick) to see what he could tease about that visit from Future Nick, how he felt about all the NEW GIRL fan support, Nick/Jess, and more…

And in case you were wondering about what the heck is going on in the picture above the post, take a look at this adorable video recap of the Fox Tuesdays panel, where Johnson busted out a few moves to prove he isn’t a terrible dancer.

NEW GIRL returns Tuesday, September 25th with two brand new episodes (8 PM and 9 PM) on Fox. Will you be tuning in?

In the beginning, Nick didn’t stand out nearly as much as the others on the show. But as the season went on, he developed into one of the most relatable characters. A co-worker at Dish and I were talking about his character, and realized that we actually knew people in a situation similar to Nick’s. I’m sure a visit from his, “future self” will help to influence a change in his life. I am so excited for New Girl to return, I’ve already set a reminder to record it on my Hopper. The fact that I have 2,000 hours of recording space is amazing with all of my shows returning. Nick’s had a rough journey so far, hopefully he gets his act together sooner, rather than later.
