BONES Season 8 Premiere: ‘The Future in the Past’ You Ask, I Answer

September 4, 2012 by

BONES fans, I just finished watching the season 8 premiere, “The Future in the Past” and the only word that keeps repeating in my mind is “wow.” It’s that good. (Probably my favorite season premiere since season 5.)

To celebrate the occasion (and because you guys clearly haven’t gotten enough BONES content today), I’m answering a few of the questions you sent in about “The Future in the Past.” But as a reminder, the intention of this is never to ruin the episode for you, so there might be more teases than flat-out spoilers.

With that being said, keep reading for more!

Just how “furious” is Booth at Brennan for leaving? – @geraghtyvl (via Twitter)
Like BONES creator Hart Hanson teased, it’s really not that simple. Did he miss his family like crazy? Heck yeah. Is he mad at other people for being separated from them and/or not helping him get in contact with them? Absolutely. But it’s not like Booth and Brennan get into a knockdown, drag-out fight.

Do they kiss? – @Kerrribabyy (via Twitter)
Booth and Brennan spent three months apart. Let’s just say things get hot.

[H]ow does [B]ooth react to seeing Christine?:D – @SeeleysSquint (via Twitter)
Absolutely adorably. Christine has gotten so big, and she’s clearly happy to see her daddy.

Aside from B&B and Angela, do Sweets and Hodgins have significant roles in the premiere? – @rex953 (via Twitter)
There’s a moment with Hodgins in the season premiere that is SO GOOD, it literally caused me to knock over my drink. (You’ll see a side of him I don’t think any of us thought was really possible.) As for Sweets, he gets tasked with something very important due to a character development that occurred last year.

[H]ow is that Brennan covertly returns to the Jeffersonian lab?? I mean did she fool agent Flynn with the blond hair? – @OkBones (via Twitter)
The wig ain’t that good. While Fox did tip their hand a little too much in showing Brennan back at the Jeffersonian, you did notice who was with her, right?

[H]ow long will ED have to keep that hair color? – @ToZiKa (via Twitter)
Brennan is not blonde the entire episode.

And a couple of bonus teases: When I spoke with BONES executive producer Stephen Nathan, he teased that Cam’s new love interest was “somebody that we’ve seen more than once” and maybe I’m crazy, but it seems like the seeds of a potential romance may be planted in the premiere.

And from BONES star Michaela Conlin (Angela): “I can say there are flowers. How about that for a spoiler?” (After you watch the premiere, you’ll see that actually is an excellent spoiler.)

Are you counting down the days until BONES’ season premiere?

Good teases. Goes along w/ everything else Fox (and David Boreanaz) are teasing. I am super excited about this season. As a shipper, I knew HH and SN could make B/B work as a couple. This is shaping up to be one of the best season’s so far. I will be glued to my TV. Thanks Marissa! Jenn

I’m so excited!!!! sorry i can’t think ‘in english’… estoy contando cada uno de los días que faltan para el 17… HH y SN han creado la mejor serie de la historia, y estoy convencida que la octava no será la última temporada… en el futuro tendremos más B&B!

Bones is my favorite show on TV right now. I’m really excited to read the premier starts off on so many strong notes. I’m bummed that I work at Dish that night so I will miss the airing of the premier. Fortunately, my Hopper DVR has me covered. It will automatically record all the prime time shows from the four major networks without me having to set a reminder. When I do get a chance to watch, I can’t wait to see Bones and Booth together again. I’ve read a bunch of previews about the new season and with every one I read, the more I want to see the new season.

    Marissa,

Your review is causing so much excitement! Especially when you said when you finished watching all you could say was “Wow”! I know that you weren’t too thrilled with seasons 6 and 7-save for a few excellent episodes. So coming from you, a true fan who holds Bones to the highest standards, and is pissed when the show misses the mark, this is the highest praise! Of course I still loved Bones despite the rocky season 6 and the shortened season 7; but believe you me, I’m soooo looking forward to the season 8 premiere and the season itself-this is going to be one of the best seasons ever! I really loved the show when it was intense with dark humor thrown in. So glad Hart Hanson and co. are returning to the formula that made the show even more awesome. Yay!

Really hoping that they are returning to the old formula as well. In the past two seasons I have really only liked a few episodes so I’m happy they are adding in more drama
