FRINGE Exclusive: And Episode 12’s Title Is…

December 3, 2012 by

With episodes 1-11 and 13 of the final season of FRINGE already named, there is just one remaining title for us to ponder over. And, as luck would have it, the title of episode 12 (which is also the first part of the two-hour FRINGE series finale event) is quite the doozy.

So what will the penultimate episode be called?

“Liberty”

I’m going to give you a moment to let that sink in, because the moment I heard that, my brain went to two very distinct places. One, could be the most literal answer, which is liberty from the Observers who have been causing trouble all season — and really, series — long.

But.

There is another possibility. The bridge that existed between the two universes in season 4 was located at Liberty Island. It was closed off in season 4’s “Worlds Apart,” but who’s to say the answer to finally knocking out the Observers isn’t Over There?

Do you have any good theories about “Liberty”?

FRINGE airs Fridays at 9 PM on Fox.

I’m going with the bridge between two universes being on Liberty island.

Maybe it’s not the Bridge that’s important but the Machine itself. Is it still on Liberty Island?

Ugh, not again, please! I hate it when a show can’t let go.

@Conner: I kind of LOVE that idea. Given what a huge presence the machine was on the show — and the impact it had — that would be incredible if the solution was linked to it.

    I just love the AU.

(epi 12) Liberty > (epi 13) An Enemy of Fate: first achieve freedom of oppressed peoples by the Baldies, and then catch the biggest villain of the story!

Yeah, I really agreed with although I haven’t thought about this other possibility, but I think if it was to be “liberty” for “yes we finally got rid of these mother#&$* observers” the episode would have a better name for this obvious possibility like “freedom”. But I really liked the possibility of the final piece of Walter’s plan is on the other side.
