Is Fox’s Kevin Reilly Looking at Season 9 of BONES as the End?

January 8, 2013 by

With BONES getting an early renewal for an upcoming ninth season — and with it being the only solid drama they currently have on their schedule — it’s no surprise the question of how much longer the series can continue on was brought up to Fox boss Kevin Reilly after his winter press tour panel.

When a reporter asked him if the network was looking at the upcoming season as the final year, Reilly’s response was quick. “Not right now,” he said. “We’re going to take that one and see where it goes.”

And yes, he seems to be optimistic Booth, Brennan and the rest of the gang could continue on: “I think it could keep going.”

Hey, if they reach season 10, they would reach that 200th episode milestone…

Do you hope BONES hangs around past season 9?

Thanks for posting that, I hadn’t seen any mention of season 9 being the final either. Leave it to that other website to try to stir up and rile Bones fans when we are celebrating the early renewal. They must need the hits.

S10 YES!!!! please. I am counting on 206 episodes. And, I think it’s veryyy possible. Depending the ratings in S9. But I totally want S10 so… I hope FOX stays on and our Bones cast stays on. This is awesome news. I wanna hug K Reilly.
Marisa, will you do it for me?!

CONGRATS on S9!!! A great accomplishment and well deserved in these hard times.

Anyone nay-sayer, please stay quiet and respect the show, it’s cast and crew and the fans! This is good news let everyone enjoy it!

Why yes, of course!! It’s WAY too early to tell, but I’m confident that FOX is going to give them S10, too. It is their “most successful hour-long scripted drama” after all…
AND, I might be biased, but this show is just AMAIZING.
    Go BONES!

Yay! This news is great and brought a smile to my face! I’m so thrilled that Bones has been renewed for season 9-I see no reason why it can’t go to season 10 and beyond!

I was surprised it was renewed before May….. has anyone seen the ratings.
Bones has been on a downward trend for this season…. for anyone over
21 years old… Bones is no longer watchable.

There is still some awesome storylines left for future seasonS of Bones. Life in the real world is a rollercoaster so of course our TV dramas will do some downsliding. I am confident the writers for Bones will find the awesome storylines that are yet hidden in the future seasonS!!!!!! I feel FOX would be losing a good portion of viewers if they don`t. Come on dig deep and for us that call ourselves fans have some patience and hang in there while the writers work thru the norms of life–the rollercoaster affect.

Since Booth & Brennan are FINALLY TOGETHER “in a relationship”, I am looking forward to only one thing now, and that is seeing Booth & Brennan’s wedding. We all know it’s inevitable, but it seems like it’s to the point where we have to “watch–and–watch–and–watch–and–watch” this show FOREVER for it to finally happen! Seriously, IT’S TIME — as many fans (including myself) feel B&B’s wedding should happen by the end of THIS season. Now obviously, we’re gonna have to WAIT ALL OVER AGAIN since there’s news that Season 9 has been approved by Fox. Sorry, but it’s getting more and more ridiculous with all the waiting involved. I’m NOT saying that ‘Bones’ can’t continue on — just that, when are we going to FINALLY see Booth & Brennan get married?? Although, the sad part is — it was ALWAYS IMPLIED that Booth & Brennan would marry at the end of the series. So, the question now is — with another renewal in place, WILL B&B’S WEDDING EVER HAPPEN ANYTIME SOON?? It took FOREVER just to see Booth & Brennan finally become a couple, and it’s even shameful to figure that we’re going to have to WAIT through “another season” until Booth & Brennan might finally “tie-the-knot”! I’m getting disgusted, as I don’t like this anymore … I honestly cannot wait for THE END of this show to happen. If that’s the only way B&B’s wedding will take place, then I say — please don’t renew any more seasons — Season 9 better be it! Honestly, if Season 10 or more, ends up for ‘Bones’ future, then I’m just gonna wait until I hear when that WEDDING EPISODE for Booth & Brennan will be aired, and then FINALLY WATCH IT. I won’t be sticking around to keep watching this series if it goes past Season 9. It’s like GET A CLUE, Fox … “best scripted drama” or NOT — there’s NOT much more that can be done with ‘Bones’ since B&B are finally together. Really, that was a LONG ENOUGH WAIT in itself! Now, it’s time for this show to be done! Here’s hoping that Season 9 will be it’s finish!

I agree! The ratings are down! But they can fix that if they have Bones & Booth’s wedding sooner than the series finale.

  12. Brandy on January 12th, 2013 12:48 pm

I think it should go into season 10 and end at episode 206. Of course if it goes past that I wouldn’t complain either.

I believe that Bones’ is the BEST crime-related drama on TV, not just on FOX!!! Emily Deschanel is able to draw from many emotions, sometimes in one scene, and David Boreanaz is great also!!! The rest of the cast simply add to a fantastic show! I love BONES”!!!

I love this show more than any other show on television! It’s not perfect, but then, what is? Yes I want a season 10 and beyond if that were possible, but 206 episodes would be the perfect ending to this fantastic show. B&B are my obsession and I mourn the day when there will be no new episodes to watch. We know that a wedding is inevitable, but I am patient and would rather for them to take their time and do it right, instead of rushing it and totally screwing it up. Hooray for S9 and fingers crossed for S10 !!!!!!
