RAISING HOPE Pays Homage to MODERN FAMILY For a Special Wedding Episode

When RAISING HOPE creator Greg Garcia first teased that Sabrina and Jimmy’s wedding would be coming sooner versus later, he also hinted he had a very specific idea of how he wanted things to go down.

“We do have an idea for a wedding episode we’re working on now that could be a lot of fun, both in the stuff that happens in the wedding and the style in which we shoot it,” Garcia said at the time. “We have a bit of a gimmick we might do that makes me laugh, so look out for that.”

And now, we have a few more details about what’s going on.

“It’s a spoof of MODERN FAMILY, their [filming] style,” RAISING HOPE star Lucas Neff told me last night at Fox’s 2013 winter press tour party. “We hired the MODERN FAMILY film crew to document our wedding, so there’s a lot of to-the-camera [dialogue]…we have a lot of great guest stars, some of them are secret. There is some giant cake that a kid ate off the street. It was good. My [on-screen] parents did their best to try and ruin it. Frank’s got a lethal weapon. It’s a pretty standard RAISING HOPE wedding…[and Hope]’s gorgeous and adorable.”

The episode, titled appropriately enough, “Modern Wedding,” will be airing in the next few weeks (exact airdate TBD).

This sounds like it’s going to be epic, right?

RAISING HOPE airs Tuesdays at 8 PM on Fox.
