FRINGE: J.J. Abrams on the Show’s Evolution, and the ‘Satisfying’ and ‘Inevitable’ Finale

January 13, 2013 by

As we prepare for Friday’s series finale of FRINGE, Give Me My Remote will be posting interviews with many of the key players behind the show.

I spoke with FRINGE co-creator J.J. Abrams on the press line for the Fox show’s series finale/100th episode about how the show evolved, and the final hours, which are “not only satisfying, but…it feels inevitable.”

Take a look!

    Dear JJ,

I cannot thank you enough for the last five years of the most incredible show on television. I feel so sad to loose my favorite TV show. Fringe was my world. I lived for this hour of pure SiFi perfection.

Thank you for giving me the perfect ending. I only wish it could have lasted a little longer. You are a gift to us all, JJ. I love you and the entire cast. Many thanks for all the hard work.

And thank you for “breathing life” back into my other favorite Sci-fi Series STAR TREK. I would love to see a STAR TREK T.V. series with your flavor of Sci-fi writing.

Mr.JJ Abrams and Fringe Family… The finale was excellent, but also has room for a film or two.. Watching Fringe from the First season till the last, shows us how these things can be real out there? There are so many exciting episodes, my favorite is when Dr.Bishop goes back too get Peter and cures him etc.. It showed the Fathers great love for his son, and nothing would stop him from finding a cure… But thanks too everyone!!! its been a great show and all of you will be missed.. Wish you all the best in your lives.. and remember The Fringe World is really here now… Sincerely, Cmmdr.Falcon Galactic Federation of the Universe….

This series was so wonderful. Thank you to JJ and the cast for 100 incredible episodes. The series finale was epic and a perfect ending. I will miss Fringe and would love to see a follow up movie or something. Think about it.

    Thank you J.J for everything!!!
Entire series was perfect … from beginning to end. I watched all the episodes together with my fiancee who also became enthusiastic about Fringe. After the wedding we will watch it all over again! … And …… it would be too much to ask a sixth season? Or even better, Fringe – The movie … ^ ^ What do you think of the idea? … Once again, thank you and the whole cast of Fringe were superb!

First thank you for allowing us to weekly watch and become part of the Fringe world you created for us. J.J. Abrams we are so fortunate to have your writing among us and acted out by such a profound cast. I have been a fan from the first episode to the amazing last episode. I do not want this wonderfully written and acted show to end but merely take a short rest and come back stronger than ever in a movie or a return. Your stories and the cast who I feel were part of my family every week and beyond are to be so missed. Again thanks for keeping us on the edge each week in anticipation of the next episode. I will always check out anything you write; you are truly one of the many gifted writers of our time. I am still asking myself, “What would Walter do???????

As Thomas said, I must agree, JJ Abrams and Fringe family are legends 🙂 I love the hidden parallels between fringe and reality, the story is amazing, the actors are amazing, the crew are amazing. Best series I have ever watched (and I’ve watched quite a lot).

Thank you for creating a wonderfully written script, characters so dynamic, that I fell in love with them. They became my TV family. I could not wait to see the next episode on Fringe. I wanted to see my familiar “family” and “friends” of Fringe. This show is (was) one of the rare, intelligent, entertaining shows on TV.
The last episode was a heart-breaker; I felt as I’d been to a funeral, after losing a loved one. In this case, it was many loved ones. I pray and hope that one day, you will allow those loved ones (Fringe cast) to come back to us.

    Dear Fringe

I was in love with this show from beginning to the last and final episode. I think JJ Abrams is not getting the proper light shed on his career as he should. I really wish the best to the cast for bringing us outstanding moments of television and I just wish I can see them in a spinoff or features in other shows. I honestly think this show started the trend 5 yrs ago to cast a female as the leading role in a action/drama filled show that shows women can be strong and be a leader and still be fragile and imperfect. Thank you
    A fan for life
