CASTLE Season 5 Finale: 6 (Vague) ‘Watershed’ Teases

May 11, 2013 by

With CASTLE’s season finale right around the corner, how about some teases for what goes down in “Watershed”?

I viewed Monday’s season finale, and in the interest of not ruining things completely, these teases are going to be vague, but hopefully they’ll help get you through the weekend…

  • CASTLE may ruin showers with its case of the week.
  • Beckett’s potential new job doesn’t stay secret for long…and one of her coworkers reacts in a way I didn’t expect.
  •  Lanie and Beckett share a little bit of girl talk.
  • Castle and Beckett have other things on their mind during the hour, which means Ryan and Esposito have to do a bit more case work than usual.
  • Speaking of Ryan/Espo, one of them reveals some good news to other, and it results in one of the small, sweet moments of the episode.
  • The parents are out in full force! As Beckett and Castle figure out what comes next in their lives, he turns to his Martha, and she turns to Jim. And they have some interesting insight.

So, I think that’s all I can say for now. But if you need a bit more, don’t forget to check out some photos from the hour, plus what Molly Quinn (Alexis) had to say about the finale.

CASTLE’s fifth season finale airs Monday, May 13th at 10 PM on ABC.

    Wow, thanks!!
Can I have a follow-up question? How bad is the cliffhanger? Is it worse than previous finales?

  2. shawhs on May 11th, 2013 2:43 pm

you should mention that the screener didnt had the last /two/three minutes so you guys dont really know whats up either with the so called cliffhanger.

It doesn’t take a genius to figure what Espo/Ryan are talking about–baby talk or maybe Espo is gonna ask Lanie to marry him… I’m guessing Ryan’s gonna tell Espo the good news.

All I would like to know is: is it a good episode? From 1 to 10, what would it be?

I hope Martha lays it on thick to Richard to “speak up” to how he really feels about his future with Kate. He needs to spill alot of his hidden feelings to her and quick.

After watching sneak peek #5: How is she going to repair the relationship after this? Kate’s character is been put in a lost/lost situation, I am looking at the characters and the way they have been written, I think the writer (AM) is favoring the male character and putting “Kate” in a vulnerable position, Castle looks good, he is hurt and betrayed and Kate looks weak, dumb and selfish. My take on this sneak peek #5 is: Women are strong, efficient and exceptional decision makers in the job but in “our personal life we are a failure”. Perception is everything!!

I’m guessing the last few minutes weren’t in the screeners since ABC is madly recutting the ending, seeing how much the fandom hate the jerk that Kate is becoming and think she is vastly unfair to Rick. Be interesting to see what they do to pull the Caskett relationship out of the trash.

Also be interesting to see if Kate ever apologizes for taking Rick for granted–last year she chased him away and then expected he would be there to save her when she was playing superhero, hanging off that building, just assumed he’d be there when it was convenient for her–everything she does is for herself. He may love her but nobody needs to be treated the way she treats him.

I am hoping they will both come to their senses. Rick needs to be forthright about his relationship with Beckett. Beckett after saying in last years episode finale that all she could think of was Rick after losing the guy who pushed her off the building and the her showing up at his apartment. How can things change so suddenly. Their relationship could not be that fickle. I will be very disappointed if we have to go through all the relationship games again.

Yes Kate was certainly wrong in not telling Castle about the job. Very wrong. I am still of the opinion however that it all boils down to what Castle really wants. Does he love the woman or just following the cop?

In theory there would be no reason for him not to be with her if she took the job, no reason at all. We know there would be no show without them both doing what they do but they do need to talk and be open and honest with each other. Not going to happen in a 2/3 min talk on the swings. May have to wait until Season 6. Whatever happens tomorrow will make compelling viewing I’m sure.

Keep the faith and keep trusting Mr Marlowe to deliver the goods

Ugh. What is people and their hatred of Kate. How shallow are you fans? Seriously. Get a grip. Castle has some explaining to do to. And honestly? Get out of the fandom if you’re going to continue attacking a character. And don’t deny it. I’ve been around a lot of the board since that sneak peek came out on Thursday and I’m just sick of the reaction. Your “kate haters” are gonna look like fools.

  11. Leo on May 13th, 2013 2:16 am

I don’t hate Kate . I think they both owe each other truth in their relationship. Her love for Castle has to be more than the enticement of the job. Again she was the one who finally said she could not think of anything but Castle while hanging from the roof. I want the chemistry between the two characters to be as funny and as caring as I have seen in many of the episodes.

I was looking forward to a “real” season finale and not some version of a nighttime soap. I agree with Leo, enough of the relationship games. Castle is a good show with talented actors and the writers usually give us some pretty good episodes but all this “soap drama” is a bit much. I’m beginning to understand why some people will be turning Castle off and tuning into to something else. Rizzoli and Isles and Covert Affairs are looking pretty good right now.

  13. Torie on May 13th, 2013 4:08 am

I am not watching Castle all the way through tomorrow. I will be skipping to the end so I can either say “yay” or “this sucks.” I don’t want to watch Castle anymore if they break Caskett up. I am so over this, they should talk about their relationship and he should
    1. Ask her to move in with him.
    2. Ask her to marry him.
    3. Go to Washington with her (he is a writer after all and he can write anywhere)
    4. They should apologize and have a make make out session ON SCREEN.
    5. . Kate finds our that she is pregnant and tells him.

There are so many great ways to end this episode but I fear that we will have to go through the summer Hiatus hating the “status” of the Caskett relationship and AM.

I am a Castle addict & own 2 complete sets of DVDs of every season which I play discs in turn both upstairs & downstairs throughout the day. We waited for 4 seasons to see our favorite couple become an item & when they did in season 5 I thought it was brilliant. In Ep.21 ‘Still’ Kate for the first time says she loves Ric, at the end she states they are just starting! Gates knows about them and accepts it, they couldn’t be in a better position in their lives, so what & why are we being subjected to ‘cracks’ in their relationship, KB is a modern young woman surely she’s not after marriage? I’d have thought things were perfect for them, I do think if anything they should openly COMMUNICATE their worries, hopes, expectations etc Please don’t disappoint us fans who love Ric & Kate together, especially when they are being loving.

  15. Leo on May 13th, 2013 12:21 pm

Lesly I so agree with you. Also Gator you are so right about the soap opera thing. I like resolutions with anticipation. This couple has been so intriguing, funny, and yet emotional with all their little looks and entendres. Please don,t mess it up with “hokiness”. As Lesly says keep being loving. Its fun to see relationships that work emotionally and professionally. We are to be entertained not always gloom and doom.

  16. Lesley on May 15th, 2013 4:02 am

Here is one solution for the writers ‘let out’. Kate says NO to Ric’s proposal FOR NOW, she goes to the new job & quite by accident discovers that her new position was instigated by Eric Vaughn which is definitely NOT acceptable to her, so she resigns & returns to Ric and her old job that has been held open for her. That’s one way out perhaps? But whatever happens they have all got to get back together otherwise I can’t see me staying a fanatical Castle fan.

  17. Lesley on May 15th, 2013 4:28 am

I’ve thought about this end scene & I firmly believe Ric should let her go on the understanding if things don’t work out for whatever the reason, he’ll be waiting for her, I think its the best way to make her realize just how much he loves her, the fact that he is agreeing to let her go. She said a similar thing to him concerning his daughter in an earlier episode ‘let her go or you will lose her’.

  18. Leo on May 16th, 2013 1:48 pm

I agree. I can’t see me watching if this ends up to be a longtime breakup.
