My vote goes to Jared Padalecki ! He did an Emmy Worthy work during all the 8 seasons of Supernatural without getting any recognition !
    * Waiting for Jensen fans to crash here and start bashing Jared *

  5. Charlotte on June 29th, 2013 4:56 am

Jensen Ackles for a long time now. The End in season 5 especially. Also when Matthew Fox won an Emmy in 2010 for an episode where he was crying, gazing up at the sky while talking I couldn’t help but think “nope, Jensen did that exact thing himself in season 5’s My Bloody Valentine, and he did it better in my opinion” but then Lost was on a major network and Supernatural is on the CW so what can you do.

  6. Inna on June 29th, 2013 7:14 am

    Jensen Ackles of course!

  7. Chase on June 29th, 2013 7:17 am

Jensen Ackles has deserved an Emmy for years now. He has been incredible for all 8 seasons of SPN! Dean Winchester is an iconic character thanks to Jensen. Dean is one of the most layered and complex characters on TV and Jensen has been amazing at peeling back those layers. He is a wonderfully nuanced actor.

  8. denise on June 29th, 2013 8:17 am

@Safa I’m almost sure people can come here and vote for their favourite without leaving smartass remarks.

    Oh wait, I guess not.

  9. Melanie on June 29th, 2013 8:58 am

I am giving my vote to Jared Padalecki for his performances of Sam Winchester past, present and no doubt future. He has created a TV character that will live on in TV history forever. Watching him play so many different versions of Sam over 8 seasons has been epic. Sam is so complex and I am hoping to see more into Sam’s head in Season 9 especially after his confession to Dean in the S8 finale sacrifice.

On a side note, Jared and Jensen both deserve an Emmy because they are both outstanding actors. Without them there would be no Sam and Dean Winchester and the acting chemistry between them is amazing. I wish there could be a tie.

  10. chriscross on June 29th, 2013 9:27 am

JENSEN ALL THE WAY. Every performance is Emmy-worthy.

  11. kendall on June 29th, 2013 9:37 am

    Jensen Ackles

I think he’s had more input than the writers in to creating the most iconic character on the show. Even though Dean doesn’t get the flashy storylines or writing to back him up like other characters have enjoyed he stops Dean becoming a background character.

To elevate poor writing and keep Dean part of the show with zero story of his own is amazing and what he does is taken for granted because he’s not had the same opportunities to be the focus of the mytharc. It’s a shame fans are overlooking his continuously fantastic acting because of this.

  12. Sali on June 29th, 2013 10:36 am

Jared Padalecki for his amazing performance in SPN during the last 8 years.

  13. Jody on June 29th, 2013 10:38 am

Jared Padalecki, Continues 8 years of brilliant performance.

  14. Scarlett on June 29th, 2013 10:47 am

I voted for Jensen, who’s performance in the Purgatory storyline and the PTSD after that was just fantastic and shouldn’t be forgotten just because it was at the beginning of the season, and because he carried that intensity and focus all the way thorugh s8.

Jared did a beautiful job in the finale but I though Jensen was top-notch all season long.

  15. Rose on June 29th, 2013 10:59 am

    Jared Padalecki

  16. Kate on June 29th, 2013 11:11 am

Has to be Jensen Ackles for his consistent brilliance over eight years of Supernatural.

  17. debbie webster on June 29th, 2013 11:26 am

Jensen and Jared are both top performers in Supenatural but Jensen is astounding considering the lack of a compelling storyline he seems to get of late, however he gives it his best and when supernatural finally ends i hope to see him in other shows or films.

  18. Caro on June 29th, 2013 11:38 am

Definitely a “Yes” to Jared Padalecki this year!

  19. Penny on June 29th, 2013 12:24 pm

Jared Padalecki. Hands down. The best.

Jensen is great, too, but Jared doesn’t get good scenes handed to him the way Jensen does. No one makes sure Sam is loved and likable, like the writers do with Dean. Jared probably deals with the most counter-intuitive writing and decision-making for a lead character I’ve ever seen. And he deals with it with class and talent. When Jared does get the gold material, he shines with it. Every damn time.

Both actors are great, but Jared truly delivered in Season 8, not just in the season finale, which was the capper performance for his character this season. Jared was raw and heart-breaking, beautiful and touching. Everything about that scene was perfect, including his chemistry with Jensen, the best acting chemistry on television.

If you consider the entire course run of SPN, Jared Padalecki is definitely comparable to Tatiana Maslany on Orphan Black and Anna Torv on Fringe in terms of acting chops on character variations. But what really sets Jared apart in the finale is what set Sam apart, with Sam finally finally, being allowed to fall apart, after years and years of holding it together against all rationality. Jared did a tremendous job with Sam’s illness and emotional melt down.

  20. Sissela on June 29th, 2013 1:01 pm

Again, two candidates from Supernatural! So difficult to choose! When Jared is handed a challenge, he shines, and he even outdid Jensen in the season finale. But Jensen is so consistently amazing. Why are you making me choose between them??

  21. Lilly on June 29th, 2013 5:59 pm

Jensen Ackles. He’s always amazing even though he’s a lead character whom the writers refuse to give and individual storyline to, which just supports the fact that he’s amazing. He gets a storyline, even a small one, and it’s what almost everyone talks about and is interested in, so invariably, that storyline is suddenly truncated, dropped or transferred to another character. The writers purposely try to “put his light under a barrel” once that happens.

It’s happened about a half a dozen times now on the show, the purgatory storyline of last season being a prime example. He suddenly is left with no storyline and forced to play cheerleader for everyone else, twiddling his thumbs most of the time, even though he is one of the TWO leads and yet he still manages to FEEL like a lead, even when he isn’t treated like one in the plotlines. He doesn’t fade into the background, he’s still the most emotionally and characteristically consistent, even when the writing it all over the place for his character. The writers don’t make Dean “loveable”, Jensen Ackles does.

  22. Lake on June 29th, 2013 7:57 pm

Jensen Ackles. Jensen has been fantastic for the whole series and he was amazing in Season 8. His take on PurgatoryDean was wonderful to watch, and he was compelling to watch with Dean’s PTSD. I loved the Dean-Benny scenes and I think their last scene together was one of the best scenes of Season 8.

  23. Sharon on June 30th, 2013 1:27 am

Jensen Ackles has made me love the character of Dean Winchester like no other actor has made me love a character before. Jensen becomes Dean. You don’t see Jensen acting, you see Dean.

Jensen has played many different Deans and many different versions of Dean throughout the 8 seasons of Supernatural and you could always tell who was who. He should have won an Emmy for his acting tour de force in The End (and for countless other episodes, like What Is and What Should Never Be).

In Season 8, Jensen and Dean ran the gamut of emotions, in Purgatory and when Dean got back topside and it was wonderful to watch and feel alongside with Dean (I think the Purgatory storyline was one of the best storyline in the show’s entire series and it should have lasted longer than it did).

  24. Sha on June 30th, 2013 3:59 am

Jared gave an amazing performance in the finale and his speech about “not feeling pure”, as he’s done many times on the show . Of course none of his performances are ever acknowledged and he’s still treated like the red head stepchild in fandom. Hopefully that will change when SPN is over and his potential will stop being wasted.

  25. Carley on June 30th, 2013 4:39 am

    Jensen Ackles

I think he was criminally underused in the latter half of the season but continues to shine above the material he’s given.

  26. Sara on June 30th, 2013 2:57 pm

I don’t even like Supernatural that much anymore(the writing has turned horrendous since S5), but I can’t seem to quit Jensen Ackles even as yes, criminally under-used(perfect descriptor), as he’s been since S4. No one elevates writing material the way this wonderful actor does, IMO-and as he has done in his role of Dean Winchester for the entire run of this series.

  27. sushrita on June 30th, 2013 4:01 pm

@safa I’m actually shocked that you think jensen fans would come here to bash jared. that’s low because we know how much jensen appreciate jared and we won’t do anyhing that would hurt jensen. and ackleholics would not wste their time bashing jared they would rather vote for jensen.

  28. Paulette on June 30th, 2013 5:03 pm

JENSEN ACKLES!! For 8 Seasons Jensen has given above and beyond in every performance despite being the most under appreciated and under used lead actor on Supernatural. He never fails to shine, makes an impact and leave an unforgettable positive impression, even when he’s the background. Jensen, as Dean is the backbone and core of the show, despite everyone but him having a storyline every season.

  29. Kimberley on July 1st, 2013 12:27 am

While Nathan Fillion did an Emmy worthy- performance in S5’s Hunt especially, I have to go with Jared Padalecki. He’s been doing a consistently Emmy-worthy performance throughout all the seasons of Supernatural. He’s deserved an Emmy for years. He can make me believe anything he acts out. And he has had to act out almost completely different versions of his character, all while staying true to the character that is Sam. And I think he’s probably the only male actor as far as I can think right now, who can make me cry when he is. He deserves an Emmy for that alone.

  30. Gabby on July 1st, 2013 7:54 am

While I adore Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki’s performance in Supernatural has been outstanding time and time again. Particularly in the season 8 finale, he was so emotive and raw and just so damned believable that, out of the two guys, he’s just that one step ahead. Go Jared!

  31. Paige on July 1st, 2013 8:35 am

Jared Padalecki, one hundred percent. I’ve been a big fan of Supernatural for years, and while I believe that he and Jensen both deserve equal recognition, that’s just not going to happen. For the show as a whole, I think that Jared has had more interesting storylines as opposed to Jensen/Dean’s storyline. Throughout the seasons we’ve seen Jared portray psychic Sam, demon blood Sam, demon detox Sam, Lucifer Sam, soulless Sam…just to name a few. Again, big fan of the show and Jensen and Jared, but I just feel that Jared, in terms of the show, he deserves it.

  32. WinchesterAsylum on July 1st, 2013 1:14 pm

Jensen Ackles is the shinning light on Supernatural. I’m surprised no one started an Emmy campaign for him. For me he is absolutely the greatest, natural talent on Supernatural.

  33. Jasmine on July 1st, 2013 1:18 pm

My vote goes to Jensen as always. Also, I am sick and tired of /SOME/ special fans who think the ‘Jensen fans” only concern is to somehow involve Jared in whatever they’re doing. We’re merely voting for our favorite and that’s that. Jared is an amazing actor but personally, I don’t need to ‘bash’ him to raise Jensen higher. Jensen can be easily praised and complimented without any comparisons and hate towards the others.

  34. Abby on July 1st, 2013 1:26 pm

Wow! Can “Jensen fans” not vote and comment? Dear “Jared fans” (I’m using this special terminology since some of you think it’s super important to categorize yourselves), if we’re doing something for Jensen, that doesn’t have to do anything with Jared. Stop making everything related to both. You’re the ones turning this into a competition; if something’s done for Jensen and not Jared, it doesn’t mean we hate him. Some of you can be seriously immature at times.

  35. Jess on July 1st, 2013 1:33 pm

Jared. Soooo many wonderful scenes he has done and is very much unappreciated in this fandom (in my personal opinion, sorry to offend, not my intent) I hate picking between them, but that acting in Swan Song and the entirety of season 8 was beyond amazing, among countless other scenes in other seasons.

I hope one day he will get the recognition he deserves.

  36. cassie on July 1st, 2013 2:20 pm

obviously jensen ackles, he is always expressive, using voice & body languige, & continues to act even if the camera is’nt on him. he does miracles all this years acting his best constantly without even having a freaking story arc to work with most of the time, which is ridiculous because he is supposed to be a lead, but obviously nobody considers him as that cause both writers & producers continue to sidelining him for someone who does’nt have half of his acting talent or expressive face but still takes all the arcs (which is beyond me). jensen totally wasting his talent there & unfortunately his time too since he is ocupied 9 months with it which barely leaves him any time to rest, so onviously does’nt have time to do anything else. let’s hope that the long exposure through it portraying the same character for so many years (without doing anything else) will not damage his carrier in the end. btw why misha collins is’nt here too? he is also a great actor who deserves an emmy nomination as supporting actor although some times stills the scene cause he has such an expressive face. that’s acting people not making grimaces ruining scenes (especially dramatic ones)neither is acting to act once in an entire season when you have all the story arcs to prove what you can do 8 seasons in the row…

  37. sushrita on July 3rd, 2013 7:47 am

It’s Jensen Ackles for me. I don’t want to compare jared’s works to jensen’s caus etey are definitely different actors and both are good. But the way jensen understands his character and the way he plays dean, i have to vote for him cause right now he’s the only tv actor who deserves an Emmy more than anyone.

Definitely Jensen. He truly has deserved an Emmy for years. Jensen has played so many different characters and different versions of Dean, from season 1 when he played a completely different character, the shapeshifter, in Skin to DemonDean, to his amazing turn as two different Deans in The End, Leviathian Dean, HallucinationDean, Purgatory Dean, and many others. He has been remarkable in his portrayal of Dean Winchester and has made Dean into the popular and iconic character that he is.

  40. Mica on July 3rd, 2013 10:10 pm

John Noble shits on all your faves. & even tho I love me some supernatural, Noble performs his Walter Bishops to PERFECTION, with every little nuance spreading each one apart. He has been robbed every year of an Emmy & it’s disgusting that his talent is never rewarded.

  41. Kat on July 6th, 2013 12:19 am

    JENSEN ACKLES

    ‘Nuff said!
Seriously..there is no one who deserves this more than he does.

But Jared is a close second.

  42. 3D on July 12th, 2014 6:52 pm

Jared Padalecki.. And here is WHY.. In real life, Jared is a ray of sunshine, he is happy, easy going and you can see it IN HIS EYES how much he truly enjoys life.. But the second Jared becomes SAM WINCHESTER, Jared’s eyes CHANGE..

You can automatically see SAM’S loss, SAM’S grief, SAM’S fear, SAM’S pain, SAM’S conflict, SAM’S guilt, SAM’S angst, SAM’S moral dilemmas, you can also see in SAM’S EYES that SAM still has some hope, some faith left and it’s ALWAYS been like that, even since the very first Episode, even before Jessica died, if you go back and look at SAM in that Episode and look at his eyes, you can see that SAM had already suffered TOO MANY LOSSES, and that is BEFORE SAM LOST JESSICA, which makes a person wonder.. “What ALL did Sam lose before the show even started?”, Jared’s performance as Sam is VERY nuance.. Watch Season 2 Episode 15 “Tall Tales.”, there is a moment when ‘Sam’ and ‘Dean’ are having a “Fake” argument to ‘Trick’, “The Trickster” and Dean yells at Sam “Why do you always have to be ‘such a tight a**’?..” and SAM visibly flinches, but it’s held back and reigned in like he was trying to down play how obvious it was that something about those LAST FOUR WORDS were some kind of TRIGGER, and Sam just takes a moment to stood there frozen before he locks it down and then continues ‘the fake fight’ with Dean.. That was NUANCE ACTING.. Something about the last four words of Dean’s sentence TRIGGERED SAM and Jared allowed SAM to react to being triggered, because in that moment he WAS SAM, so something about those words were a TRIGGER for Sam, but SAM was trying to ‘lock down’ his reaction so that Dean wouldn’t notice and ask questions.. When Jared becomes SAM, his eyes become SAM’S EYES, his reactions to certain things are SAM’S reactions, because JARED is someone completely different and HE would react to those things in a different way..
