Wondering what’s going on with The CW? CW boss Mark Pedowitz is just about to start his Television Critics Association executive session panel, so be sure to follow along for all the latest details…

9:09 AM: Pedowitz confirms they’ll be planting a Flash story in the upcoming series of ARROW, with the potential of spinning it off at some point. He says they do want to expand the DC universe on The CW.

9:10 AM: “Well, we never got that second season, did we?” Pedowitz says of finding out who Steven Rae was on CULT.

9:11 AM: Pedowitz says REIGN should attract women to the network, and placing it behind THE VAMPIRE DIARIES will give it the best chance to nab those viewers. As far as future development goes, “it’s very hard to launch a show without a hook,” he says.

9:14 AM: REIGN’s pilot was shot in Ireland, but the series will have to be shot in Toronto.

9:16 AM: “It is planned to be a planted spinoff,” Pedowitz says of the upcoming SUPERNATURAL spinoff.

9:17 AM: “Once WHO LINE worked, it gave us a strategic piece for comedy,” Pedowitz says of bringing comedy scripted shows to The CW.

9:18 AM: “We may end up doing a two-hour finale” for NIKITA, aiming for the show to return in November in four single episodes, and then a potential final two-hour block.

9:20 AM: “AMAZON is on pause right now; the script isn’t quite where we want it,” Pedowitz says of the Wonder Woman project. “It’s better to wait and get it right.”

9:21 AM: “I don’t understand why the show didn’t get the viewership we hoped it would when we launched it,” Pedowitz says of THE CARRIE DIARIES. He says they hope that with the summer repeats, the DVD release, the online streaming, etc. will help bump up the numbers.

9:22 AM: “Funny is funny,” Pedowitz says of WHOSE LINE’s success, despite the stars being out of the demo age.

9:25 AM: Pedowitz thinks the network can launch shows that don’t have ties to older series, citing HART OF DIXIE going into its third season and their hopes for REIGN.

9:26 AM: “I think this is the year that Carrie and Samantha first bond, but I think this is the year about Samantha,” Pedowitz says of bringing on any of the other SEX AND THE CITY girls.

9:27 AM: “I would love SUPERNATURAL to continue for as long as they can continue,” Pedowitz says. He notes the arc has room for them to continue beyond this season.

9:30 AM: “We’re going to go more into romance,” Pedowitz says of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST. Plus, Vincent will be get a bit of a makeover.

9:31 AM: On THE ORIGINALS’ tough timeslot: “We believe these are people fans have known for the past three years,” Pedowitz says. He believes Julie Plec will be able to create a show that draws in new viewers and intrigues the original viewers. “I’m somewhat confident that will hold its fanbase,” he adds.
