BONES: David Hornsby to Guest Star

September 11, 2013 by

BONES fans knew that the show is bringing back a ton of former guest stars for Booth and Brennan’s upcoming wedding, but it turns out there will be a very special newbie who will be making an appearance in the episode: David Hornsby, who is married in real-life to BONES leading lady Emily Deschanel (Brennan).

A rep for the show has confirmed that Hornsby will appear in the episode, and E!Online (who was first to share the casting) is reporting that Hornsby will be playing a priest…who potentially might be tasked with marrying Booth and Brennan.

What do you think of this guest casting?

BONES’ ninth season kicks off Monday, September 16th at 8 PM on Fox.

For those involved with the show, it’s probably a fun thing for them. For the fans though- awkward, very awkward!!

It’s only awkward because people choose it to be. A cheeky casting choice … not sure if Hornsby’s character will actually be marrying B & B given the other spoilers that have come along, but I’m excited to see him share some screen time with Deschanel. It is a sweet moment to one day share with their child.

With that said, Caroline or Gordon Gordon would be my preferred choices for facilitating the nuptials.

You know, I have no problem with Hornsby on Bones but this is just the wrong role, it might be fun for the actors, showing what great friends they all are, but dont think it gonna be that much fun for the fans who know of the relationships. Awkward, just awkward, I would rather see David Boreanaz’s dad as priest/preacher, whatever.

For such an important moment in the story and with so much going on in the episode in terms of guest stars, it’s massively disappointing that they went for stunt casting for such an important role. The person who marries them should either have meaning within the wider Bones universe like Caroline or Gordon Gordon, or fade into the background to allow B/B to take center stage. This detracts from that.

I really hope this isn’t true. Personally I’ll find it quite distracting and it will make the whole thing feel quite fake for me. Many people won’t know the connection, so for them nothing will seem odd. For such a big event it just feels wrong to have him on the show. I’m sure it’s fun for the actors to do it this way. I’m just a viewer that will have a hard time taking the episode seriously with this casting.

Exactly! It breaks the illusion and turns into *nudge nudge wink wink* look her real husband is marrying them. This is probably a more intimate moment than a sex scene and after all their talk of honouring the relationship, it doesn’t make sense for them to be so gimmicky. It’s completely the wrong episode and role for Hornsby. Although you have to wonder if this isn’t sneaky cross promotion for the newly moved It’s Always Sunny on FXX.

I like the idea, and I really like David Hornsby. It reminds me of when Jenna Fischer’s husband (maybe just fiance at the time) played the doctor who helps her with breastfeeding. That’s a different scenario than getting married of course, but the idea is there. Jenna and John and Lee were all funny in that scene, and it was cool by me.

Just like Stephen Nathan tweeted earlier this year (something like… “Don’t believe anything until you actually see it…yes, even that”), I am long past believing anything about the show until it actually airs. Maybe his character will be the killer, who the heck knows?

Knowing the show, there are about 100 twists involved.
And if not, and he is the person who does the ceremony, then so be it. There have been other things in the past that I thought would be the worst ever (like Stewie for example) that turned out to be okay, and other things I greatly anticipated that ended up being horrible. No way of knowing until it happens.

I’m fine with him being the priest, but I kind of don’t want him to marry Booth and Brennan. It’d be great to see him on the show though!

Doubt he marries B&B…given the spoilers we’ve gotten, he seems to be on the murder side of the episode. Actually wouldn’t be surprised if David winds up as the killer…it’s something Hart would do

I hate that David Hornsby is going to be on the show, I see Emily already has issues with showing intimacy with David as it is, without her husband there. I think it is just skivy to think of all we want for B&B to be tainted, I know it is fantasy but we have been waiting 8 long years for this. I know it is in the can already but I must admit I have dread just thinking of David Hornsby being there, my hope is he won’t be at the wedding. I want all the focus on B&B, please don’t get cheeky with this it has been too long in the coming! Make DH the killer that would be great and Booth gets to arrest him…that I like!

I agree that David Hornsby being at the wedding would distract from the mood of the moment as most of the new guest stars are not that well known to the fans and he is. Don’t like it. So what! I’m a died-in-the-wool BandB fan.

Priest or not!!! I absolutely love the idea of Hornsby appearing on the show!! I can’t wait, either wayhe is cast!!!

If David Hornsby is at this wedding, I would be really disapointed.
