HAVEN Season 4 Premiere: Matt McGuinness and Gabrielle Stanton Tease ‘Fallout’

HAVEN is back!

“We come back to HAVEN and it will be six months later,” HAVEN co-showrunner Matt McGuinness told me. “And Haven is quite a bit different. And not everyone has come back to Haven, necessarily…And we’ll get to see characters sort of find each other after the crazy events of 3×13″

“We’ll get to see some of our characters in very different situations,” HAVEN co-showrunner Gabrielle Stanton added.

Adding to the complexities of the situation? Even the amount of time that has passed between the show’s third season finale and tonight’s fourth season premiere isn’t completely straight-forward.

“Actually, six months is an interesting thing, because for some people, it was six months,” McGuinness teased. “For other people, it was much less time than that.

“We picked six months because it was a good amount to indicate things had changed, but…we didn’t want it to be a significant amount of time for some of our characters,” Stanton explained. “And for some time has moved a little differently for them.”

Unsurprisingly, one of the people who is in the worst shape when the season picks up is Nathan, who lost both Audrey and Duke when the barn disappeared…and hasn’t exactly handled it well.

“When we find him again, I think he’s even more dejected and broken,” McGuinness noted. “But once he finds out that Audrey is possibly still alive and the barn has deposited her somewhere else, he becomes much more driven. He becomes driven to fix the mistakes he’s made and to save this town.”

“He starts in a really dark place, but his journey this season is going to be redemption and reconnecting with the woman he loves,” Stanton added. “One of the things we’re excited about is Dwight has been made police chief in Nathan’s absence. I think that’s going to be really fun for his character.”

Adding to the fun of the fourth season? A few new, mysterious new characters including, Jennifer, who has a tie to a familiar HAVEN face; Wade, Duke’s brother; and William, who is played by former EUREKA star Colin Ferguson.

“All three of them will play important roles this season, Jennifer in particular,” teased Stanton. “Colin, will be seen sporadically through the season…[but] he will play a very prominent role in this season of HAVEN.”

What more HAVEN teases? Be sure to check back next week for more of what’s to come in season 4…

HAVEN returns tonight at 10 PM on Syfy.
