About Last Night…ARROW, REVOLUTION, NASHVILLE, and More

October 24, 2013 by

So much TV on Wednesdays! Let’s talk about what went down…

ARROW: Black. Canary. Is. A. Bad. Ass. This might have been one of my favorite episodes of the show, because everything worked for me: all of the character arcs; the blossoming, awkward partnership between Lance and Arrow; heck, even the case of the week was compelling and messed up.

REVOLUTION: In many ways, I’m finding it more enjoyable to watch the show if I pretend season 1 didn’t exist — the Monroe conflict is a big example of why. He should not be alive, and if he is, these people should not be willingly working with him. Rachel pointing it out was both helpful and a little jarring. Now that the whole crew is together, it’ll be interesting to see how the dynamic of the show shifts.

MODERN FAMILY: Loved the manny. And, boy, Cam and Mitch’s wedding prep is going to be months of crazy, isn’t it?

LAW & ORDER: SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT: Really enjoyed learning more about Barba, but being that it’s SVU, that meant some of his long-time relationships went to hell. Unfortunate for him, but glad we got some more insight into who he is.

NASHVILLE: The music was better this episode! But man, Scarlett’s BFF is just the worst. Like, legitimately, the worst. HOW DO YOU SLEEP WITH YOUR BEST FRIEND’S EX? Ugh. (I get it is soapy. It fits. It was obvious that’s where it was going. But it’s just such a low, cheap thing to do to a friend.)

IRONSIDE: Shame the show is gone. I enjoyed its brief run.

AMERICAN HORROR STORY: COVEN: Fiona taking out Madison was fairly predictable given the show’s foreshadowing, but it’s kind of a shame it seems that dynamic is now done. And, um, Kathy Bates is kind of amazing here. She’s always great, but Madame LaLaurie’s bafflement over 2013 — TV is a magic box, her (racist) remarks on progress — brings much needed comedy to the series.
