About Last Night…ARROW and THE TOMORROW PEOPLE

December 5, 2013 by

A relatively calm night of TV. Let’s talk about what The CW had for us…

ARROW: I didn’t really know what to expect of Barry Allen’s introduction into the ARROW universe, because things are working really, really, really well on the show and trying to introduce a new character (with the potential to spin him off fully into his own world) with his own established set of baggage could have felt like a tacked-on mess. But Barry fit seamlessly into the ARROW world and I’m actually a little sad we’re only getting him for two episodes.

THE TOMORROW PEOPLE: That episode felt a bit like a midseason finale, didn’t it?? I really appreciate that the show isn’t holding back its storytelling and is moving forward at a pace that actually makes it really fun.

What intrigues me — and worries me a bit — is that right now, John, it seems, can’t bring himself to kill Jedikiah…will Jedikiah be equally unable to pull the trigger (so to speak) if push comes to shove? We saw when they captured John that the direct orders were to keep him alive. I don’t want/need people to kill without thought. But there’s also a danger when a show loops itself in a cycle where the ultimate good and bad guys are unwilling to kill each other — the stakes become significantly less real. So while I’m absolutely enjoying the push-pull now, I do hope they don’t fall into a rut like other shows have.
