Marisa’s Top 14 Episodes of 2014

For my top episodes of the year, I did something different this year: I didn’t let myself choose anything from my top shows of 2014. There are certainly shows there that could (and maybe should) have installments listed here, but considering how much television I watch, I wanted to expand the field of shows versus just going over (again) why I loved the top shows.
The following episodes aren’t ranked (they’re listed alphabetically), but I did note which one would have been number one if I had gone that route…
Supernatural: 'Fan Fiction'
It's become customary for people to call out of the norm episodes "love letters to the fans." Sometimes it's spot-on, and other times…not so much. With SUPERNATURAL's 200th episode, "Fan Fiction," the writers took what could have been a totally hokey premise (Sam and Dean encounter an all-girl high school putting on a musical about the Winchesters' lives so far), and made it both deliciously meta and oddly moving. Plus, the songs? So. Freaking. Great.
