Fox canceled a whole lot of shows this spring, but two were fortunate enough to find second lives—BROOKLYN NINE-NINE (which went to NBC) and LUCIFER (which Netflix snapped up).

On paper, the move to Netflix for LUCIFER felt like a long shot (Hulu had the streaming rights in the United States), but its appeal internationally (where Netflix owned those rights) helped save the day.

“LUCIFER is a fantastic show that really resonated with audiences in parts of the world where we have licensing,” explained  Cindy Holland, Netflix’s Vice President of Original Content, during the Television Critics Association session. “We felt it was important…to try and find a way to help that show continue for those fans.”
