Let’s talk about Thursday’s TV!

SUPERNATURAL: Not to harp on it, but I remain really disappointed Michael!Dean only lasted for two episodes. There was so much potential, both for Michael!Dean and for Sam navigating things without his brother. Oh well.

I’m curious what’s going on with Jack, though. Is his body reacting to the lack of powers or is something deeper going on?

SUPERSTORE: Jonah cheated for Amy. (His nerdy joke about gerrymandering was the cherry on the sundae.) The, um, timing of cultural appropriation with regards to Halloween costumes was hilarious, albeit completely unintentional.

(Also: That Halloween song is apparently a real thing. HOW?)

THE BIG BANG THEORY: Yeah, Howard’s costume felt pretty mean. And Bernadette’s reaction to Sheldon and Amy’s retaliatory costume felt really unfair. But the non-mean costumes were cool.

THE GOOD PLACE: After meeting Jason’s father (Donkey Doug!!), I’m terrified/excited to see what Eleanor’s mother is like. But Chidi’s montage of break-ups was hilarious, and felt reminiscent of last season’s montage of the characters figuring out they were in the Bad Place. (That poor guy.)

MOM: We saw Marjorie have a breakdown last season. So far she is mostly handling Victor’s death okay, but this is a huge life change.

WILL & GRACE: I’m shocked Grace managed to not read Will’s letter. But their long-overdue moment of understanding was sweet. It probably won’t lead to Grace really saying she’s sorry more, but still sweet.

LEGACIES: I enjoyed the pilot. It felt really different than TVD and Originals, but still felt authentic to the world. It felt like it was new-viewer friendly, but I’m also coming at it as someone who has watched this franchise for nine years. I’m curious if others, who may have just tuned in without watching either show, would feel the same way.

MURPHY BROWN: Murphy and Avery remain my favorite part of the show. (The Barney jokes made me laugh out loud.) But this is the opposite situation of LEGACIES: I don’t have experience with the world prior to the revival, so that history doesn’t mean as much to me, at least on an emotional level. For those who watched the original, do you find the work stuff, with those characters, to be the most compelling part of the show?

LAW & ORDER: SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT: Oy, this was a good/sad hour. And the stats they gave on assaults inflicted on homeless women? Just heartbreaking.

It was beautiful that “Grace” got some form of closure at the end, even though I selfishly wished she outed her professor more widely. Clearly she wasn’t the only one this happened to, and he doesn’t deserve any postmortem glory.
