THE FLASH, FBI, EMERGENCE,

EMERGENCE – “2 MG CU BID” – A mysterious illness takes hold of Piper, while Jo and Benny investigate a powerful tech mogul, Richard Kindred. As Piper’s health deteriorates, Jo weighs accepting help from an unknown source. Meanwhile, Alex works to decipher a radio frequency code from Piper’s plane crash, and Ed has a follow-up oncology appointment, on “Emergence,” airing TUESDAY, OCT. 8 (10:00-11:00 p.m. EDT), on ABC. Let’s talk about Tuesday night’s TV!

THE VOICE: I’m confused about the pacing of the season. On one hand, there are some auditions you can’t really move around (the first person on each team, as they’re filling up), but the auditions seem to be so heavily backloaded in talent. There are some really good contestants who have aired in the past few episodes, whereas the first week was so forgettable.

THE FLASH: Oh my God, the Queen song was absolutely perfect.

I’m glad the show is mourning Nora and acknowledging that even if they have a daughter named Nora, she still won’t be the Nora they loved.

I don’t think the show would do this—especially because it would totally destroy possible crossovers with BATWOMAN and SUPERGIRL—but it would be really interesting if Barry did disappear for a significant number of years and the show jumped forward in time for the back half of the season

FBI: It’s always good to see Sasha Alexander on TV. I’m bummed Maggie lost a hero, but glad she was able to be so badass in the process.

EMERGENCE: I’m very happy the show revealed what Piper is and did it so early. And her being a robot (or at least having robotic parts…I guess we still don’t know about whether her persona was taken from a human or this is her forming her own identity) is at least refreshing based on recent use of aliens as explaining so much weirdness away.

I still love the ensemble’s interactions—and yay for adding in Terry O’Quinn—but I continue to wonder how the heck this can be a long-running TV series. Even 13 episodes right now per season feels like a mess.
