About Last Night…AMERICA’S GOT TALENT: THE CHAMPIONS and PRODIGAL SON

Let’s talk about Monday night’s TV!AMERICA’S GOT TALENT: THE CHAMPIONS: As much as I hate it, I do agree a lot of acts didn’t really push themselves this episode. I think part of it is because they have to give so much in the first round, with steeper cuts just to make it through. The big highlights for me: Alexa Lauenburger, Sandou Trio, and Marcelito.

I don’t get the Hans love, though. Fun? Sure. On par with any of the other acts? No way.

PRODIGAL SON: I love this show, man.

Malcolm not making it to his vacation was absolutely on-brand. As was Jessica initially disowning her son. But I love that Malcolm had fun with one of his favorite childhood stories, escaped a bomb (truly, how many times has he been thisclose to death in the series so far? The man has nine hundred lives), and helped save the day. But damn, Dani…way to save the day.

But I’m very interested in who may have tuned in for the first time last night, after seeing the Super Bowl promos. It was a good episode, dealt with some of the core issues (Martin having a stand-in for Malcolm in group was perfectly twisted), but also wasn’t a total re-pilot of the series. I’m curious for those who may be new if they decide to go back to the start or just stick with it moving forward.

(Also, Malcolm, what were you going to say to Dani while you were on the bomb?!)
