GREY'S ANATOMY, A MILLION LITTLE THINGS, LAW & ORDER: SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT

A MILLION LITTLE THINGS – “guilty” – Gary takes a big step and confronts his past, while Maggie finally talks to Eric. Meanwhile, Regina’s adoption news to her mother causes tension to their already complex relationship on an all-new episode of ABC’s “A Million Little Things,” airing THURSDAY, FEB. 6 (10:01-11:00 p.m. EST), on ABC. (ABC/Jack Rowand)
SUTTON FOSTER, JASON RITTER

Let’s talk about Thursday night’s TV!

KATY KEENE: I found the pilot to be cute, and I really hope they stick with a more grounded storytelling vs. the other shows in the Archieverse.

BROOKLYN NINE-NINE: Man, it was crazy to see Holt as the one who was actively misbehaving. We’ve seen his petty side before, but this wasn’t the same kind of thing. And Jake was not great—understandably—at trying to put him in his place.

I was pleasantly surprised with how the show handled Amy’s pregnancy scare. I assumed she’d end up being pregnant, but it ending up being a scare and leading to a discussion felt like a much more realistic approach than the blow-up fight we got last year.

I am bummed that Captain Kim only stuck around for an episode, though. While I don’t begrudge her leaving, especially given the disastrous party, it felt like she could have been fun to keep around for a few episodes.

GREY’S ANATOMY: Dinner. Parties. Never. Go. Well. On. GREY’S ANATOMY.

Catherine and Richard’s relationship felt damaged beyond repair for a bit, but the final gasp of breath was particularly awful. And if she now buys his new hospital? Yikes, yikes, yikes, yikes.

Levi learning the truth about his uncle was so sad and lovely. It’s so unfortunate they couldn’t have had an open relationship during life, but it’s nice that he knows he was accepted by someone so important to him.

WILL & GRACE: It’s a pretty bad look to have your title characters trying to erase bisexuality, especially in 2020. I get the show was trying to explain they can evolve, but the characters weren’t just frozen in time. If they didn’t evolve during the chunk of time the show was off the air…

It was lovely having Billie Lourd on the show, though. And this sounds like a backhanded compliment, but I mean it sincerely: Ryan Phillippe was surprisingly funny playing himself. It’s a really tough balance to do that, especially on a sitcom, and he hit the right balance.

MOM: Poor Tammy. It’s a shame her aunt lied to her and is likely going to really mess up the gift of organ donation.

Every once in a while, it hits me how much Bonnie has grown, and it’s incredible. Can you imagine season 1 (or 3) Bonnie being that supportive of Tammy? No way. (Also, yes, Christy was the out there one this episode. She’s rarely the less stable one of that family!)

INDEBTED: Love the cast, but not what I was hoping it would be.

A MILLION LITTLE THINGS: I’m kind of surprised Sutton Foster appeared in such a small guest spot.

Eric was wrong to lie, but his explanation for how he was tied to Maggie made sense and was probably the only thing that could have been done to make his lie not full-on reprehensible.

Gary’s reunion with his mom was a lot. I hope the “what might have been” doesn’t consume him, because knowing she actually came back and looked at him might actually be a worse revelation than thinking she didn’t care at all.

LAW & ORDER: SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT: I really enjoyed the episode; it was probably my favorite non-major guest star/significant return episode of the season. (Though, hi Barba! Terrifying the SVU writers figured out there would be trouble with the Iowa caucus.)

We’ve gotten little bits and pieces about Kat over the season, but it was nice to see her take center stage…with the show still acknowledging she’s still new to this and is going to make some mistakes. (Also, Jamie Gray Hyder was a bad ass in the boxing match?!)

TOMMY: I really wanted to like this, but the pilot felt like it was trying to do way too much, and very little of it gelled together. Thursdays are pretty bad, so it’ll likely end up a DVR show unless something grabs me more immediately.
