THE WEST WING cast will reunite this fall, for a good cause.

HBO Max has ordered a reunion special as the original cast comes together to do a special stage presentation of the season 3 episode, “Hartsfield’s Landing,” in A WEST WING SPECIAL TO BENEFIT WHEN WE ALL VOTE.

According to HBO Max, the creative team (including series creator Aaron Sorkin and director Thomas Schlamme) and cast “organized this historic production in order to raise awareness for and support the vital mission of When We All Vote, a non-profit, nonpartisan organization co-chaired by Michelle Obama which was founded to increase participation in every election in America.” WarnerMedia will make a donation to When We All Vote and will include a message from Obama.

“Tommy and I are incredibly excited to be getting THE WEST WING cast back together for this staged reading and to support When We All Vote in their efforts to get all of us involved in this election,” Sorkin said in a statement.

“With A WEST WING SPECIAL TO BENEFIT WHEN WE ALL VOTE, we are excited to revisit this legendary series and offer our passionate fans something that is substantial, meaningful and unforgettable, while also promoting an important message for our time,” added Sarah Aubrey, head of original content, HBO Max. “Combined with WarnerMedia’s donation to When We All Vote, this special not only entertains, but also help ensure the organization can carry forth its mission to increase voter participation in every election.”

The special will shoot in October at the Orpheum Theatre. Original THE WEST WING stars Rob Lowe, Dulé Hill, Allison Janney, Janel Moloney, Richard Schiff, Bradley Whitford, and Martin Sheen will reprise their roles, with special guest appearances also expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

THE WEST WING bowed in 1999 and ran seven seasons. The series also starred Stockard Channing and the late John Spencer. During its run, it nabbed 27 Emmy Awards, two Peabody Awards, two Humanitas Prizes, two Golden Globe Awards, seven Screen Actors Guild Awards, two Writers Guild of America Awards, two Directors Guild of America Awards, and five Television Critics Association Awards.

The special marks the second reunion HBO Max has staged, with the cast of FRIENDS expected to reunite when it’s safe to resume production.
