GREY'S ANATOMY, MOM, and A MILLION LITTLE THINGS

GREY’S ANATOMY – “No Time for Despair” – Grey Sloan Memorial faces new pressures as Seattle Pres is overloaded, and Grey Sloan Memorial is now on surge capacity protocol. Meanwhile, Owen and Amelia are faced with one of the most controversial surgeries of their careers on “Grey’s Anatomy,” THURSDAY, DEC. 17 (9:00-10:01 p.m. EST), on ABC. (ABC)
KIM RAVER, KEVIN MCKIDD

Let’s talk about Thursday night’s TV!

GREY’S ANATOMY: Uh, yeah, Owen has every reason to be a little thrown that Teddy named their daughter after her ex. That’s a pretty huge secret to keep and for him to have to digest in the midst of a lot of trauma was too much. I get they aren’t in the best place, but she really should have asked him to go somewhere and talk privately.

I’m torn about the Meredith of it all. The show has put Meredith in danger so frequently, I expected them to end the winter finale with her in jeopardy again. And, look, this could kill her. But we’ve also seen Meredith die before. (Cold and dead, but still.) If Meredith’s lungs are truly trashed, is the show going to play out what that means for her life and life expectancy moving forward?

Not super thrilled about the trafficker coming back. DeLuca was doing so well. I do wish they had waited a bit to revive that storyline.

MOM: Man, I absolutely loved that episode. Bonnie has lost a lot–and they didn’t even include the group losing Jodi—but this really is the happiest she’s been, ever. She’s in a secure relationship with Adam. Christy is happy, in theory, off at school. She has a good friend group. It makes sense she’s waiting for the other shoe to drop.

I absolutely love Bonnie and Adam, but it was so precious seeing Alvin and Bonnie together. For as lovingly antagonistic as Bonnie/Adam can be, it was nothing compared to the pure rage Alvin and Bonnie could throw at each other. (Which, fair, their initial relationship was baaaaaaad.) I’m so happy we got to see Alvin teasing Bonnie again, and dig into her concerns.

A MILLION LITTLE THINGS: For as weird as the scheduling has been this year, this didn’t feel like a winter/midseason finale, and I’m actually OK with that. We didn’t need a huge cliffhanger to torture us the next three months.

I do love that Gary stood up for Sophie, but I also love that she proved herself on her own terms.

Not sure how to feel about Eddie lying about his pills, but I do wonder how long he can lie about his behavior. It’s not like he can go get new pills himself if he gets addicted…

(Also, the hallway full of Jons was unnerving. And that poster was so messed up, but absolutely something some marketing teams might do.)
