Let’s talk about Sunday night’s TV!

AMERICAN IDOL: I know COVID is making it so production on these kinds of shows is compressed and different, but it really felt like we rushed through getting to the top 24. I know we still have another episode of reveals, but I feel like I barely had any emotional attachment to those being cut/moving forward.

THE SIMPSONS: I love Megan Mullally as a voice actor, but I actually found her a bit distracting here. We’ve heard Sarah Wiggum a handful of times, and, yes, nothing as extensive as this, but every time she spoke, I just kept hearing Megan instead of a character.

But Clancy accidentally marrying a thief and never realizing it is hilariously on-brand for him. It was a fun episode, it was just…distracting.

THE EQUALIZER: I’ll admit, for a second I bought that Nance actually killed Dorian, because it felt morbid enough that it could shift how Robyn set about doing things. I’m glad I was wrong and she and Bishop planned a fakeout so Dorian could escape to safety.

I’m really curious how long Robyn can keep her job from her family, though. She’s lucky she only ran into her daughter at a store versus, well, in butt-kicking mode.

BOB’S BURGERS: Yep, 100% tracks that Tina would fall for her Spanish audio book narrator.

ZOEY’S EXTRAORDINARY PLAYLIST: I struggled a bit with Zoey with this…I wish she had been more clear with her needs rather than the approach she took where she eventually blew up. But the scenes with her friends was nice.

And, oh my God, I died with David joining the band. He just wanted to make some friends so bad. (But they were a fun group.)

I’m a little wary about Max’s new love interest, if only because the Max/Zoey thing felt so brushed aside. But he deserves some happiness, so I guess good for him?

FAMILY GUY: She frequently hides it better than the rest of her family, but Lois is straight-up crazy.

THE ROOKIE: Every time Oscar returns it’s fun, even if he’s pretty evil and tortures the characters we love. And this time he had a daughter! (Played by Nathan Fillion’s former on-screen daughter, Molly Quinn.) It was a fun episode.
