FBI, THE THING ABOUT PAM, and FBI: MOST WANTED

“Shattered” – The team pursues an abusive man on the war path to find his ex-girlfriend, who is trying to escape him for good. Also, Jess and Sarah make plans to take their dream vacation together, on the CBS Original series, FBI: MOST WANTED, Tuesday, March 8 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and available to stream live and on demand on Paramount+*.

Let’s talk about Tuesday night’s TV!

FBI: I’m glad FBI continues to explore problematic policing behavior, and the pressures for abuse to go unchecked. And I’m especially glad OA had Tiff’s back when she reported the police misconduct, even though he was also pressured to brush it aside.

THE THING ABOUT PAM: So, here’s my thing: It’s one thing to be cutesy about a fictional murder. It’s…less so when it’s based on a real-life death? The tone of this show bothered me, a lot, given it was based on a real event. I wanted to enjoy it a lot more than I did.

FBI: MOST WANTED: Two things are true (for me) about this episode: I was absolutely devastated and it was beautifully handled.

I’ll miss Jess. Jess was the heart and the soul of the team, and I couldn’t really imagine him willingly leaving the team unless something really awful happened with Tali and she needed his immediate, constant care.

And while this exit does mean he won’t be able to return, it also lets the team really (possibly, seemingly) struggle in the aftermath of his death. They’ve had a lot of turnover, but nothing like that. The scene where Hana and Barnes told Sarah broke my heart. And while we didn’t get to see Tali, it was so important we got to see Byron and Sarah on their way to tell her. It’s gutting she’s now an orphan, but she also has people who love her and will protect her.

If Jess had to die, I’m so glad he was able to go out a hero. (And, briefly, that case was so, so, messed up. One of the most disturbing perps they’ve had to deal with, which felt fitting given, well, what he ended up doing.)

[For more on the episode, here’s what showrunner David Hudgins had to say.]
