Pop star Bebe Rexha mentors Idol hopefuls as they belt out unforgettable tunes in hopes of making it through to the next round. Let’s talk about Monday night’s TV!

AMERICAN SONG CONTEST: It’s interesting a few weeks into the show that Michael Bolton is the only name (so far) to advance. It’s probably better for the competition and series that it’s the case, but it certainly wasn’t what I expected before it started.

Jared Lee was my highlight of the night, with Allen Stone as my runner-up. This felt a lot more hit-miss than the previous week, but, hopefully, that’ll make the eliminations next week a little less painful?

But, really, Kelly Clarkson and Snoop’s dynamic continues to be a show-highlight. They would be fun together in a variety show.

AMERICAN IDOL: It really felt like the women stole the night. Candence Baker, Ava Maybee, Allegra Miles, Leah Marlene, and Katyrah Love were the best of the night for me, though Noah Thompson and Christian Guardino were standouts for the guys.

Bebe was also a great mentor! The note to Allegra about taking a beat on each side of the stage was helpful and made a difference/could be key going into the competition if she keeps utilizing that. And Bebe telling Cameron Whitcomb to harness his energy was a very important note that actually would have been very helpful. (Her Jim-like look to the camera when she said, “He didn’t listen to any of my advice” was….spot-on.) I know the judges acknowledged you couldn’t contain Cameron, but Bebe’s insight was right, and I do hope he considers that going forward; it could be a huge game-changer.
