PRESS YOUR LUCK, BIG BROTHER, and GENERATION GAP

PRESS YOUR LUCK – “I’m Not Crying, You’re Crying Part II” – Host Elizabeth Banks is back to help contestants try to win those BIG BUCKS and avoid the iconic and devilish WHAMMY for a chance at life-changing cash prizes on “Press Your Luck,” THURSDAY, JULY 14 (8:00-9:00 p.m. EDT), on ABC. (ABC/John Fleenor)
JUSTIN EBENHACK, RODNEY “CHIP” VERNIER, DEBBIE GWALTNEY

Let’s talk about Thursday night’s TV!

PRESS YOUR LUCK: Well, I cried. Debbie winning $83K before the Big Board felt like a win in itself; even if she had Whammied out, she would still end the show with an impressive haul. But then she kept getting her personally picked prizes on the board. When she got the Barry Manilow package and then the NFL/Seahawks prize, I was deeply hoping she’d walk away—there were a number of dream-come-true experiences for her family, and I’m so glad she got to keep them.

BIG BROTHER: This house is cursed. This season is cursed. WTF.

To go back a bit earlier, okay, Brittany is also on the dumb list for outing another person’s game. Again, it’s week 1 and everyone is stabbing everyone in the back and trusting the wrong people. The majority of the cast should just go at this point.

Paloma lying to Taylor’s face was shady was hell; at that point, she’s already on the block, the damage could have been done, just tell the truth. Don’t pretend to be besties. Ugh.

I’m disappointed they didn’t do an eviction; just don’t do a double later in the season. Paloma left, but it meant Daniel’s HOH meant nothing and, arguably, hurt his game, as well as Pooch’s? If the twist was going to be interesting (and it could have been), now it was wasted. Or at least make it so there was SOME consequence…the person who lost that planned battle wouldn’t be eligible for HoH, was automatically a bonus elimination nominee, etc. Oh well.

It didn’t really look like Jasmine was safe in her HoH round, but her injuring herself right after was just miserable luck. I have no clue how she can complete in the next round, if it’s in any way physical, given her leg was basically propped up by the end of the night? Mess.

GENERATION GAP: The TV and Movie round made my soul die. Poor Calvin and Hobbes. Overall, the game was fun, but the game being decided by a single question—and a contestant losing because of a single letter (Simpsons versus Simmons)—has to be haunting.

At this point, if a toddler picks anything but he kid toy, it may be a miracle.
