GREY’S ANATOMY: Ellen Pompeo to Appear in 8 Episodes of Season 19

GREY’S ANATOMY will be very different in its upcoming 19th season.

In addition to a gaggle of new cast members joining the long-running medical drama—Alexis Floyd as Simone Griffin, Niko Terho as Lucas Adams, Midori Francis as Mika Yasuda, Adelaide Kane as Jules Millin and Harry Shum Jr. as Daniel “Blue” Kwan—star Ellen Pompeo will appear in the series in a limited capacity.

Pompeo, who has starred on the show as Dr. Meredith Grey since 2005, will appear in just eight episodes of season 19. (She will continue on as an executive producer.) The news comes as Pompeo signed on to star in/produce a limited series for Hulu.

Deadline was first to report the news.
