BEAT SHAZAM and CLAIM TO FAME

CLAIM TO FAME – “Spot The Difference” – With only six contestants remaining, the competition is stiff, and loyalties are tested. This week’s challenge is centered on a mock estate sale, where the contestants must spot the difference when certain items, many of which are clues, are swapped around. Some new rule changes throw the group, and the eliminated contestant goes out with a bang on an all-new episode of “Claim to Fame,” airing MONDAY, AUG. 22 (10:01-11:00 p.m. EDT), on ABC. (ABC/John Fleenor)
“AMARA”

Let’s talk about Monday night’s TV!

BEAT SHAZAM: Jessica and Champagne getting five in a row wrong in that money building round was unreal. Has that ever happened before?! But, despite it, they risked it and ended up doubling their money. (I wouldn’t have, so props to them for having the guts to take that chance.)

CLAIM TO FAME: HOLY DRAMA.

Removing immunity from the winning players made things extra interesting, because it gave the winning team—Lark and Louise—control, both in getting a clue and in deciding who was in the “bottom 2.” But it was a brilliant decision for Lark and Louise to opt to put themselves in that slot, and therefore take control over who was the guesser and who was eliminated.

But oh my God, Logan freaking out that Lark might panic and not pull off the plan to blindside Amara was absolutely hysterical, both in the moment, and in his confessional about watching a trainwreck. Was it the right game move by everyone? I actually don’t know. Honestly, everyone is underestimating Louise, which is great for her, given she came in with the disadvantage of truly not being able to hide her relation, given how much they look alike. But Amara was a big fish to take out, and clearly they were right to not tip her off that she might be on her way out. Her exit? Holy moly. Absolutely insane and also a hilarious mix of annoyed (with the four people she, uh, said eff you to) and affection for Pepper. No one will top it for the rest of the season, and it feels like it’ll always be an all-time CLAIM TO FAME exit, no matter how long the show lasts.

(Also, Logan trying to figure out Pepper’s clue and trying to suss out Dino to Dean Martin, and then using the books in the confessional room—which, uh, that’s a thing?!—to research him? Incredible TV. Literally laughed out loud as we watched him try to figure out what was going on in real time.)
