THE SIMPSONS, THE GREAT NORTH, BOB'S BURGERS

THE GREAT NORTH: When a long lost family friend shows up at Lone Moose’s White Elephant gift exchange, Beef is not pleased. Moon rescues a reindeer in the “Xmas With The Skanks Adventure” episode of THE GREAT NORTH airing Sunday, Dec 11 (8:31-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. Let’s talk about Sunday night’s TV!

THE SIMPSONS: Sure, THE SIMPSONS has done hockey episodes in the past, but this felt very, very, very different, so it worked for me. I’m generally more hit/miss with Moe episodes, but this was perfectly fine. And I have to admit I laughed out loud at Bart prank texting Moe; a clever, modern way to bring that dynamic back.

THE GREAT NORTH: How absolutely bittersweet Beef resented the dancing tree because it symbolized how much he couldn’t do for his kids, whereas they just loved their eclectic holiday and what the silly tree meant to them. I’m happy they all got some resolution, but have to admit that dancing snowman is 10000x more disturbing. (Though those questionably placed ornaments on the dancing tree could make it a bit closer.)

MUST LOVE CHRISTMAS: I’m sometimes a Grinch with holiday films, but I found this absolutely charming. Liza and Neal had great chemistry, and it was a really lovely watch, even if you don’t celebrate Christmas.

BOB’S BURGERS: Well, I didn’t expect to be this emotional! Tina showing up for Louise…oh my God, my heart. I was stressed for Bob and Linda having to juggle their kids’ commitments, but Tina’s selflessness was just such a lovely twist.

FAMILY GUY: As someone who loved THE CLEVELAND SHOW, I laughed at the quick shout out.

It’s insane to realize this many seasons into the show, I had never thought about the big age difference between Stewie and his siblings. (This is one instance where the similarities to THE SIMPSONS kind of worked in its favor, because, sure, three kids, with the youngest being a baby meant I didn’t bat my eyes.) Poor Stewie thinking he’s a mistake, and, uh, I guess yay for Chris’ creepy, violating videos which proved Lois wanted Stewie/he was intentionally conceived?
