GHOSTS

“The Christmas Spirit: Part One” – In part one of a special one-hour #Ghostsmas episode, Jay’s sister, Bela (Punam Patel), visits Woodstone Mansion and brings along an adoring male friend, inspiring Sam to spark a romance between them in the spirit of the holiday rom coms she loves. Meanwhile, the ghosts have conjured up a very different holiday plan for Trevor and Bela. Also, Isaac has an awkward encounter with Nigel that forces him to look back on events in his life, on the CBS Original series GHOSTS, Thursday, Dec. 15 (8:00-8:30 PM, ET/PT) on CBS Television Network, and available to stream live and on demand on Paramount+. Let’s talk about Thursday night’s TV!

GHOSTS: It’s absolutely no secret I love this show, but it also holds the distinction of being the series that makes me laugh out loud the most right now. And oh my God, these two episodes made me laugh.

Rose McIver playing Thor? Brilliant. Like, genuinely something I’m going to need to go back and rewatch when I need a boost in my mood, because it was so freaking funny. I can’t believe I never thought of this—and so smart of the writers to have the first two possessions be the most physically different characters, which made the visual comedy hilarious on top of the acting and situational moments—but it was absolutely perfect of Thor to be accidentally possessing Sam.

And, look, those of us who have loved and followed McIver’s career for years know she can do this. (Hi, IZOMBIE!) But I really went into this episode expecting a fun homage to holiday movies—which McIver has also done—and instead we got this magic. I love it, I love it, I love it.

(HOW DID JAY NOT REALIZE WHAT WAS GOING ON?!)

Uh, look, on a practical note, how worried should we be about Bela’s life choices? And should we be worried Eric was willing to die for Bela, or…? (For a second, when he did die, I thought we might get a new ghost friend. Alas.)

But, really, what a great couple of episodes. Singing! Isaac and Nigel kissed! Holiday cheer! Multiple Hanukkah mentions! My heart is happy.

Also: TREVOR AND HETTY?!?! Seriously, I need to see the fallout of this immediately, please and thank you.
