THE VOICE kept it all in the family with the Monday, February 3 season premiere.
“I’m more nervous now,” THE VOICE season 25 finalist Bryan Olesen told host Carson Daly as Olesen’s daughter, Jadyn Cree, was about to start her Blind Audition.
“My dad definitely has left some big shoes to fill,” Cree acknowledged in a voice-over. “I’m excited to make him proud and try my best to get anywhere close to where he got in this competition.”
As Cree sang Paramore’s “Still Into You,” she got two chair turns: First, season 26’s winning coach Michael Bublé, followed by Kelsea Ballerini. (This marks Ballerini’s first season as a coach.)
Adam Levine (marking his return to the series) and John Legend didn’t turn, but expressed remorse.
“I feel like I missed out because I think you’re going to really go far on this show because there’s nobody like you,” Levine said, comparing Cree’s talents to a ’90s pop voice.
Legend—who coached Olesen—noted Cree looked familiar and asked if she had auditioned before. said she looked familiar and asked if she auditioned before.
“My father got third place on season 25,” Cree said, as Legend started yelling in recognition.
“Oh my God, he was on Team Legend!” Legend exclaimed. (Notably, Legend played a part in Cree’s first performance on THE VOICE stage in season 25: After the singer called Olesen’s audition the best he had seen and noted he was a superstar, he encouraged Cree to come out. Then, after Olesen said she also sang, the father-daughter duo sang Corinne Bailey Rae’s “Put Your Records On.”)
“Now I’m feeling a little FOMO,” Legend said after seeing the father and daughter duo on stage for season 27.
Bublé made a hard pitch, noting he thinks Jaydn will be a star, and he wants to be a part of the journey—and it worked.
Do you think Cree made the right decision?
