An original song won over THE VOICE’s Adam Levine on the Monday, February 17 episode of the NBC competition series.
Tinika Wyatt initially auditioned with Demi Lovato’s “Sorry Not Sorry,” but coaches Levine, Kelsea Ballerini, John Legend, and Michael Bublé didn’t turn.
Bublé said if she picked a song that gave a little more range she might have gotten selected, while Levine noted they had all been close.
Levine also pointed out he had been gone a bit, and Wyatt replied, “I thought you came back to get me!” Levine then mimicked a knife in his chest.

But this wasn’t the start of Wyatt’s THE VOICE journey: She revealed she tried out a decade ago in an open casting call and created her own song that she put on YouTube. “Tell me what would it take to have a Blind Audition with Blake,” she sang. “Adam would you please just turn your chair for me?” And Levine took her instructions—kind of—and pushed his Coach Replay button.
“How could I resist?” he asked as he gave Wyatt a hug.
“She had this sunny, beautiful disposition that was just irresistible so I decided to press my button and give it a second chance,” Levine said in a segment after the audition. “And she was great.”
