Let’s talk about Monday night’s TV!

THE VOICE: I’m really glad Adam and Michael fought to steal Kolby, who should have been safe to begin with. It’ll be interesting to see what Adam does with him. I was also surprised by Michael stealing Angie, but good for them both.

It was smart of Kelsea to pair two Replays together; Tinika was also definitely the right choice to make it through, too, and it feels like she could go far in this show.

A good start to the Knockout round. I don’t agree with all of the choices so far, but it feels like we at least have a strong group this season.

AMERICAN IDOL: So here’s the thing: Hollywood has always been a nightmare on this show, but having under two hours to lose half of the contestants felt like an absolute whirlwind. Like…Che was good? I felt terrible for those who had problems on the stage. But so much of the episode itself was a blur, so when we were saying goodbye, it was hard to have the emotional impact it might have if this particular round was spread out to two nights.

But, man, it was surreal to see Brian Littrell from Backstreet Boys next to Ryan Seacrest, as the former watched his son compete on the show.

(Also: Any contestant saying he hangs out with his cats = #goals/my vote.)
