About Last Night…THE SIMPSONS, AMERICAN IDOL, THE GREAT NORTH, and More

THE GREAT NORTH: Wolf and Honeybee’s spooky new business is put to the test by an influential travel reviewer on the all-new “Ghouls Rush In Adventure” episode of The Great North airing Sunday, April 6th (9:00-9:30 PM ET/PT) on FOX. THE GREAT NORTH © 2025 by 20th Television and Fox Media LLC.
Let’s talk about Sunday night’s TV!
THE SIMPSONS: Oh, I laughed at the Othinquic promo music mimicking the jingle from a certain weight loss drug ad.
We’ve seen the show tackle the town’s obesity issue before, but this is the first time since a weight loss drug has been accessible this way. Part of me is surprised it was introduced into the episode via Barney (versus, say, Krusty or Kent Brockman or one of the famous folks), but it worked.
I’m also curious to see how this episode holds up in a few years; what will society’s relationship to/with this kind of drug be then?
AMERICAN IDOL: It was interesting and sad to see how many people struggled here. I know Hollywood Week isn’t quite as torturous as it used to be (thankfully), but it’s still so much for them. Kolbi Jordan, specifically, made me a bit worried about her future on the show; I hope she can turn things around in the head-to-head.
But, wow, the quartet that made it straight through to the Top 24—Mattie Pruitt, Zaylie Windsor, Gabby Samone, and Canaan James Hill—was fantastic. They were my top performers of the night, along with Jamal Roberts.
FAMILY GUY: The aftershow parody was hilarious. I was curious how they would handle showing, uh, Chris’ problem when I saw the episode’s logline, but him being stuck in a desk was a good workaround. (My guess had just been showing everyone else.)
THE GREAT NORTH: Man, Honeybee and Wolf really are perfect together. It’s not new, but it’s just so charming every time we’re reminded of it. How delightful and hilarious that their attempt to make the perfect trip for a travel influencer went so wrong they ended up genuinely terrifying him.
(I wish they made real-world merchandise of the Honeybee and Wolf pillow versions of themselves. They were adorable.)
THE $100,000 PYRAMID: My answer complaint of the week: “Things you dig” is HARD to say once you say “hole” and they don’t get it…what then?
Rob Riggle was great, though, as was Rachel Dratch. I get there are a billion reasons for how and why celebrities appear on this show, but it would be great if there was an all-star season where we only got the best of the best celebs to pair with the civilians competing.
