Let’s talk about Wednesday night’s TV!
CHICAGO MED: Somehow, I’m shocked that Dennis didn’t tell his daughter about Sharon? He has seemed so smitten! But, oy, then him being upset about her downplaying their relationship…I get they can’t/shouldn’t be happy all the time, but ouch to this happening right as the hospital is going through mess now.
Hannah and Lizzy…I’m intrigued and worried. It felt obvious Hannah might offer to be a surrogate (though I also wondered if Hannah would discover she’s already pregnant), but no matter what…Lizzy just went through a major loss. There should be a pause to allow for her to grieve before jumping into something else. Hopefully.
God, I’m glad Frost got to say what he needed to get off his chest to Ainsley. I’m really glad he spoke with Charles about the situation and worked through some of it.
THE MASKED SINGER: Okay, less than one percent difference in voting was insane. At that point, the audience isn’t that huge, it may legitimately have been a single vote that made the difference. Poor Edwin McCain got the short end of the stick there.
WILD CARDS: I know the season has already aired in Canada, but I’ve largely stayed spoiler-free—I had no idea we’d essentially be “to be continued” here. And, look, it makes sense in hindsight, because I kept thinking it felt so very season finale-like. But I also love that George was so willing and able to help Ellis and was all-in.
And, wow, not a surprise, but what an incredible reminder that Vanessa Morgan can sing.
CHICAGO FIRE: It really sucks when the real world infiltrates how I feel about an episode, but it was hard to get Daniel Kyri and Jake Lockett’s upcoming exit from my mind while watching this. Normally, I’d be thrilled that Ritter and Lizzy were going to be roommates, but, uh, it certainly seems like it will only be for a few episodes. So the fun of this storyline has been sucked dry. (Though, oh my God, Lizzy, don’t reorganize anyone’s stuff without their permission!) And while the show had already derailed my interest in Carver and Violet as a romantic couple, it was nice seeing them team up to get answers about the mysterious medic…that felt bittersweet, too.
The best part of the episode for me ended up being the Severide of it all. Loved seeing him be a brother to Damon and also his investigation into Kidd’s old case. (Though the case situation is even murkier now. WTF will that photo tell Kidd?)
So, with the chief test in three weeks, that feels timed to a season finale event. Will we find out this season or…?
THE FLOOR: Okay, maybe the most difficult category of the season was wedding, because some of those photos were so vague. And something like “bride,” all of the other guesses made sense, but I don’t think I would have jumped to bride, either. But once you know that, your opponent getting groom is a no-brainer.
Steven winning was very sweet, though. I’m impressed his husband was his coach and they actually trained for this?! Wow, wow, wow.
CHICAGO P.D.: Oh, I felt bad for Cook. I get why she wanted to make Ruby her CI, but you can’t help someone who doesn’t want to—or isn’t ready to—help themselves. But I am also really glad she felt comfortable enough to stand up for her opinion, her gut, even if things didn’t pan out exactly like she may have hoped. (And I hope Cook reconnecting with her mom can bring her some comfort. Hopefully. Maybe. She deserves it to go well, at least.)
