LAW & ORDER: SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT is undergoing more behind-the-scenes changes: Julie Martin and Norberto Barba will not serve as executive producers on the upcoming season 27, Give Me My Remote has learned.

Martin joined the series in season 13 as a co-executive producer, before moving up to an executive producer role in season 14; she worked on the series for 300 episodes.

She previously worked within the Wolf Entertainment world on LAW & ORDER, LAW & ORDER: LA, and LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT. (She also co-developed LAW & ORDER: ORGANIZED CRIME and co-wrote an episode of the series when it crossed over with SVU in 2023.) Prior to her exit from the NBC drama, Martin was also the longest-tenured day-to-day writer on the series.

Barba was an executive producer-director from seasons 21-26, though his history with the show is much deeper: He first directed an episode for the series in 2006, helming installments in seasons 7, 12, 13, 14, 15, and 19. Despite his exit as an executive producer, he is expected to return to direct next season.

He previously worked within the Wolf Entertainment world on FBI, CHICAGO JUSTICE, LAW & ORDER, LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT, CONVICTION, and NEW YORK UNDERCOVER; his directing credits also include GRIMM, MAYANS M.C., REACHER, BETTER CALL SAUL, and THE STRAIN.

The shifts come in the aftermath of showrunner David Graziano‘s exit. (Michele Fazekas, a former SVU writer, will serve as the season 27 showrunner.) Series regulars Octavio Pisano and Juliana Aidén Martinez are also not returning for season 27.
