TRANSPLANT: Laurence Leboeuf Previews Mags’ Big Decision in ‘Heart’

TRANSPLANT’s Mags (Laurence Leboeuf) was thrown for a loop on the Thursday, June 5 episode of the medical drama when she got a call informing her that she was on the verge of actually getting a heart transplant.

Now, on the Thursday, June 12 episode, “Heart,” Mags has to figure out how to proceed from here: Take the new heart or gamble that her heart will remain healthy and avoid the risky surgery.

“Well, it’s interesting for Mags to be in this position,” Leboeuf tells Give Me My Remote in the video below. “I think she’s got all her head in it; I think she understands the process of things. She’s willing to do it. I think she knows she has to do it. But I think a little nerves [are] creeping in, obviously, because it’s such a big deal.”

“We could see her being a little bit more fragile about it, and the little insecurity of this whole procedure that’s kind of dawning on her in the next episode,” she continues. “We’ll see where this leads. But I think it’s the direction that she knows that she needs to go.”

And Mags won’t be alone during this process. Not only do her friends want to step up, but her mom, Muriel (Macha Grenon), is by her side.

“Mags…has had a hard time accepting help, I think, from others when it comes to the medical world,” Leboeuf acknowledges. “In my mind, she was always the Hermione Granger of the ER: She knows everything. She’s first [in] her class. She’s [the] first response…So I think she’s having a hard time letting people in to help her.”

But a potential heart transplant is something even Mags realizes she can’t handle alone. “As this evolves, she’s gonna have to let people in,” Leboeuf says. “Let people help her and put their input [into the situation] and feel the love that she has around her.”
