Let’s talk about Monday night’s TV!

LEGO MASTERS: If you’re going to do a whole WICKED event, shouldn’t they have shown the teams the movie so they were familiar enough with what they were doing? (Or did they assume THE WIZARD OF OZ was known enough that people could get the bare minimum?) It was a fine challenge, but I wish it had actually felt a bit more, well, magical.

LOVE ISLAND USA: Can we get an entire new group of men here?! Amaya was totally valid for her frustrations…rather than get to be happy with Ace for even a night, he basically slammed the brakes on their relationship immediately. (Which is also dumb because logic says the girls might have the next recoupling power?!) It’s valid to have boundaries on your own comfort level with pet names and physicality! But everything about how he handled it was gross. And then he only got worse about it. (His confessionals were awful.) I really, really hope Chelley doesn’t give him the time of day, either.

Jeremiah and Huda continue to be…yeah, things are not going to end well there. Because of how this show is shot—and the lack of live feeds—we don’t know if she’s hearing what she wants to or if he really is saying more than he should. But, uh, yikes.

THE QUIZ WITH BALLS: Anthony absolutely destroyed that final round—the Tom Hanks category was so much fun and something I got correct, too. Congrats to the Powell family! (And, okay, the pasta family was very funny; I’m jealous of all of their pasta-themed shirts.)

YES, CHEF: The bet was an interesting concept to see who got what ingredients…and then Jake was nice to Zain. I appreciate that he actually seems to be the only one growing here, so I’m glad he’s safe. I do feel bad Julia got cut this week given how gracious she’s been during her tenure on the show, too.  

I know I’ve said this before, but if part of the show’s DNA is about changing problematic chefs, their behavior should factor into the final judgment, too.
